Sono ormai sessant’anni che la cineasta americana Maya Deren (1917-1961) ci ha lasciato, morta prematuramente all'età di 44 anni. Di lei ci rimangono i suoi scritti, le immagini ma soprattutto i suoi film. Questo nostro tributo musicale si propone di reinterpretare alcune pellicole attraverso una scrittura sonora che rispecchi le atmosfere originali e il climax dei cortometraggi. Il connubio tra i film di Maya Deren e le musiche nasce da una ricerca indirizzata più ai contrasti che alle aderenze: in alcuni casi abbiamo utilizzato un criterio analitico, esplorando scena per scena, in altri ci siamo orientati verso un commento sonoro indefinibile, elaborato in tempo reale in fase di esecuzione, tramite una sorta di alea misurata. Entrambi gli approcci pensiamo possano condurre gli ascoltatori a spaziare verso nuove possibili riletture dei suoi film.
