This is what I do, along with 'okay, unlock your phone and hand it to me'. Less often the second because if someone complied I would really not want to actually go through all their personal stuff, feels gross
I got sent to the wall for going down the slide. I was never told why going down the slide was punishable this time, but thanks for teaching me to have a healthy mistrust of authority early in life
I am still a relatively new Linux user, had tried Garuda and Bazzite on my Acer Gaming laptop 2021 (Intel integrated + Nvidia 3070 dgpu- muxless) back in July but neither worked, i kept getting weird freezes and nothing would open. Had no clue what the issue was and had zero Linux knowledge. So after a frustrating few days and...
Heck yeah man! I've been using Linux a good while now and I still do a little shoulder jiggle dance of joy when I discover some new trick or solution I didn't know before
In my personal opinion, this site is completely unusable without heavy content filtering. Just being picky about which communities to follow and users to block isn't enough....
I've blocked tons of communities that are dedicated solely to posting voluptuous anime women, and one or two instances that are clearly dedicated to trolling and rage bait. Not much other than that I don't think. I frequently browse all, but if I'm not in the mood for politics and cynicism I just stick to my subscribed feed, which is nice to be able to do.
Those anime women communities are like a hydra, though. Block one and two more take its place
Agreed, as much fun as I've had playing the game itself, there's a lot of fun and magic talking with my kids about it and sharing theories and stuff, watching videos about theories and discoveries, anticipating what will happen next, all that. Then again I'm older, so the wait doesn't feel as long as I'm sure it does to younger folks
I played the game since 0.29 (released in August 2022) splatting hundreds of characters in all sorts of ways. One of them even touched the Orb but didn't live long enough to escape (ironically, it was another mountain dwarf). This run, I did something different: I actually started using my god's abilities in any viable...
A screenshot of Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup showing my character, a mountain dwarf of Nemelex Xobeh, leaving the Dungeon with the Orb of Zot, thus finishing the game.
Well done, my only win was years ago with a Gargoyle Fighter of the Shining One, went all in on shield blocking and armor, no evade. I was told this is a terrible strategy but I don't know, it's my only win in many years of playing so it can't be that bad.
God powers are a lot of fun. It does take a minute to get past the piety hoarding mindset but hey, if you don't use your powers when they're useful then you're more likely to die, and dead means zero piety
I am going to be a father and am making a jellyfin setup for my child. I want to start early to make a good collection of movies and shows. So I am interested in knowing what other people experienced as positive influences in their lives....
I'll not repeat what I've already seen listed, just wanted to add Castle of Cagliostro. Not quite as innocent as Disney's Robin Hood (which is an all time favorite of mine, wearing a shirt right now with Skippy and his wooden sword with the words "DEATH TO TYRANTS"). It's another great rogue with a heart of gold taking down the bad guy story though. I feel like we need stories like these now more than ever.
I just accidentally clicked the "clear all" on the browser URL and wished that it was a bit harder to click but was still there. If it took three clicks to make happen, its still useful in most circumstances but would drastically drop the mistaken clicks...
Stop removing the underline styling for links. It's not cool or sleek that you made things unintuitive to navigate by having the only indication be a slightly different text color, or a hover effect.
I don't like emoji in text interface output. I don't need cute little sparkle graphics and yellow smiley faces and lightning bolts and rocket ships to tell me the operation was successful, to say nothing of environments where emoji aren't supported and it's just broken.
Please stop trying to be cute or hip with your basic interface messaging. "We got you, we'll find those results you need. Just hang tight, OK?" "Oops, our bad, there was a little hiccup in the process..." It's unnecessary padding just like all the rounded corners everywhere. Exception if the entire app/site/whatever is specifically designed around being cute and friendly, but I see this all the time where it just feels out of place, disingenuous, and obnoxious.
Custom fonts and nonstandard characters in usernames are an abomination. Show your personality and creativity in your graphical avatar and your profile, I'm happy to see it there!
Less problematic, but still potentially confusing. Why break the standard and add another variable people need to consider in order to find the form and function they've already learned? Links are there as a functional element, not an aesthetic design.
I get people wanting to add their own touch or sense of style, but doing so at the cost of intuitive functionality, especially a kind that is long established and standardized, can be a slippery slope.
All that said: At the end of the day, it's up to the creator, of course. If someone really wants to indicate their links with upside down text and no underline, or a glowing CSS effect, or whatever, I'm not going to demand that they stop. Especially if it's a personal website. Your satisfaction with your work and self expression is more important than a guy yelling at a cloud about front end web design standards and whatever. I'll just reserve my right to gripe over some minor personal annoyances, and everyone will be just fine in the end!
The worst is circular avatars. Great, now I have to make the focus of the image smaller so it'll fit into this unnecessarily reduced space with dead air surrounding it for no reason
I think this is the reason. With the mass de-masking in recent years and people saying the things out loud that they'd previously just keep to themselves, it's become more difficult to tell if people are being sarcastic or just are genuinely hateful and cruel.
I hate that this feels like the reason, but it does. I've lost a lot of people that I used to count as respected friends and peers.

A lot of RPGs that I just don't have the patience for anymore. Final Fantasy 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, Tactics. Vagrant Story. Breath of Fire. Legend of the Dragoon.
Is there a real difference in water and electricity consumption? Personally, I don't use a lot of water to wash my dishes (by hand), but maybe I should install a flow meter to make sure....
By hand. I find it relaxing and a good time to get lost in my thoughts or listen to audiobooks. It's also nice to just have some things that you do manually. I don't like the idea of a world where machines take care of everything.
The dishwasher never does a good enough job anyway
I loved this level of graphics. Enough for cool 3D stuff that could be nice and smooth, but no expectations for or effort spent on absurd levels of hyper-realism
Not sure if people just don't eat cereal anymore, or they just don't care to admit it. Love me some corn chex in particular. I'll do toast and scrambled eggs and bacon if I'm feeling like taking the time though, sure.
Probably. I recently installed a bunch of packages so now I use emacs to check my RSS feeds, look up the current word's definition or synonyms, browse Gopher and Gemini sites, check my email ... I told myself I was doing it just for fun to see how much truth there was to the whole "emacs is a great operating system" joke but I genuinely love how handy it all is and I'm worried I'm going to keep falling in even deeper. A part of me does dislike not using purpose built programs for each of those functions ("do one thing and do it well"), but it's been a fun experiment so far
YSK: People are switching their profile pictures to Microsoft's Clippy in protest of the unethical, immoral, anti-consumer practices by various companies. The movement was started by Louis Rossmann (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_Dtmpe9qaQ) on August 7th, 2025....
People whenever something like this (particularly protests that aren't violent uprisings) happens: "It's not a sole and immediate solution, so it's pointless. Also I'm not going to provide a realistic sole and immediate solution that I'm personally willing to act on or lead. Might as well shut up and go quietly."
I get that it's frustrating, but stop trying to slam the door on people trying to build up an environment of resistance, solidarity, and hope. If you can encourage that energy into a more effective direction, then by all means: lead the way. Trying to appear like some savvy intellectual superior and just telling people they're wasting their time isn't the way to do that.
Por que no los dos? I don't think this is being proposed as an answer that will solve the problem on its own. Set a clippy profile picture, self-host, do whatever else you can as well toward the same goal. No need to restrict all our eggs to a single basket.
I'm always puzzled when people tear these things down rather than use them to build into something greater. Channel that energy while it's there and people are fired up! If someone has ideas that they believe will be more effective, now's a great time to pitch them - and without insulting the people they're pitching them to.
Nobara had some issues updating correctly for me, but I haven’t seen anyone else express that
This is why I stopped using it. I could never find anyone else with the same issue or any advice on it either. Glad to find out it wasn't just me after all

I wanted so bad to enjoy this game, but I felt like it did not return the sentiment. The biggest challenge was trying to get Arthur to do what I actually wanted him to do.
For me, my high bar that I have yet to beat, was the time I pivoted the running OS (ubuntu) into RAM over SSH so I could unmount and image the boot drive without rebooting and loading a live USB (Which would have required a ticket with my provider to enable IPMI)
I tried this after seeing Action Retro use it a few times to see if he could make it work on older machines he was tinkering with. Love the old school/simpler FPS feel of it, and the lack of nonsense. Boot it up, play
