Mostly on my Lemmygrad and Hexbear accounts. But still like Lemmy.ml and the people on here. Not a liberal, conservative, or a fucking fascist! The masses need to wake up and see how much we have been and continue to be lied to by those that want us to stay dumb and hating each other!

Some time ago I started replacing all services and apps that I use with FOSS altnernatives. Most of them were easy to replace but some corpo/big-tech apps had ecosystems too advanced to be conveniently replaced. For example, substituting Google Maps on Android (or I guess Apple Maps on iOS) was a bit of a struggle as the most...

damn i really hope they stay. this right after their spotify crawl and domain suspension doesn't inspire hope.
Have there been shipwrecks that have been damaged by undersea communication cables (or even discovered because cables were being laid)?
Was reading about undersea com/internet cables. Then just started thinking about how wild it would have been if a wreck like the Titanic had been messed up even more if a cable (or cables) had been dropped on it (or even found due to laying them)....

TIL about “Second Screen Viewing” and that Netflix pushes writers to make scripts and dialogues simpler to keep viewers who are on their phones engaged ( www.pcmag.com )
No nuance and characters are saying the obvious stuff, because viewers are looking at another device while watching. We’re so cooked.
Is there a way to have the window be moved around while dragging sidebar?
I have been using Zen-Browser as my main, but still use FF daily (both PC and Android). One thing that I have really liked with Zen is that I can move the window around by holding left-click just like the normal toolbar....

Do you think Chinese companies will pick up the slack when it comes to consumer RAM and SSDs?
I personally never really considered "Chinese knockoff" a negative term because those products still fill a niche that is beneficial to the consumer, usually very low cost entry level offerings the "brand name" companies don't bother making. Now that the "brand names" have straight up said they don't intend on making entire...

TIL a TV show tricked people into thinking they'd gone into space ( en.wikipedia.org )
The series was a hoax at the expense of its contestants, who were told they were being trained as cosmonauts at a Russian military base before undergoing a five-day trip into low Earth orbit. In reality, the entire series was filmed in Dore, and the contestants did not leave Earth.
On Linux, Firefox stores site-data in a folder named the same

Saw this ghacks article for speeding up YouTube on FF and seems to help. ( www.ghacks.net )
I have seen folks talk about a pain point for using FF (or forks) being related to YouTube being super slow. The about:config settings the article mentions did seem to lead to YouTube loading faster on both my FF and Zen-Browser installs. So maybe this might help for others that specifically don't like to use FF as their main...
