On join-lemmy.org, the project is described as "A forum and link aggregator for the Fediverse". In the previous post, multiple people mentioned that this is not a good description. However I have a hard time coming up with anything better....
I haven't been able to upload to peertube. It always errors in the web client on mobile. I can post to my personal fedi instance without any issues or fear that a peertube instance is going to disappear. the creator experience on peertube is pretty bad.
i did when I posted from my personal instance and no one clicked.
i did [fedi original] on my posts earlier this year.
it's fine, ill just post from youtube.
I just use it because the video / audio player just works for my friends that don't need accounts.
Even youtube doesn't really have an audio player unless I go through a distributor who will literally never pay me my royalties.
It has always had a free tier, it's the video that is relatively new in the last year. I post free audio tracks on my patreon too, it's just an easy place for sharing with friends that doesn't require an account.
It's always had a free membership and public tier for posts, it's the video hosting that is relatively new in the past year. I just use it for sharing with my friends without the need for accounts or ads.

Right, YouTube is definitely not a paywalled ad platform.

Lemmy claims decentralization, but once you join a community on one instance you’re still subject to that instance’s rules and moderators. Being banned from c/community@instance still means you can’t post there unless you make a new account elsewhere. That isn’t real decentralization, it’s just fragmentation where...
This is mostly just word-vomit, but I had a random idea while doing a tonne of Xmas shopping and figured you guys might appreciate possibly chewing on it....
I’ve been thinking a lot recently about PeerTube, Loops, Bandwagon, and other platforms in the Fediverse that are geared around artists. I might get flamed for this, and you’re welcome to disagree, but I think the network is in dire need of having support for commerce....
Bro, I can't even get people to watch a video that isn't YouTube or Instagram.
I PAY money to host these videos.
Absolutely no one is going to commercialize the fedi.
I was just break checked going 80 mph on an empty freeway.
They came to a complete stop in front of me then sped off.
No there's nothing I can do about it.
They put my entire family at risk for what?
Avoiding injury is kinda how bodies degrade. Obviously I don't me major injuries but the body heals in counter intuitive ways. So anyways, this is how.
Online pornography showing strangulation or suffocation is to be made illegal, as part of government plans to tackle violence against women and girls....
Did you click on my audio only posts back when I made those? It seems like people only listen to music if it's on their Spotify playlist.
Yes, there's no central software involved. I am using an analog mixer as a DAC for recording with audacity, otherwise everything is coming from my synths directed by a midi sequencer.
I make music with a DAW too, I just find that people like seeing the creation of music when it doesn't look like a spreadsheet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7thabykiQU
I'm leaning in the whole Techne philosophy of art by doing, if anything just to prove I'm not artifical AI.
That's cool, band camp albums are fun to make but unless there's already a fanbase most people will only listen to the first half of the first song and skip the rest. I have a few things published on bandcamp but not much. I mostly just buy my friend's albums to support them.
This is getting out of hand. The other day I saw the requirements for "Hell is Us" game and it's ridiculous. My RX6600 can't play anything anymore. I've downloaded several PS3 ROMs and now I'm playing old games. So much better than this insanity. This is probably what I'm going to be doing now, play old games....

Also, do y'all call main() in the if block or do you just put the code you want to run in the if block?
