Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I've had this puzzle on my phone for years. Every few months I'd glance at it and try and solve it. Last night, as I was eating dinner, I finally figured out the answer!

Dwarf Fortress@lemmy.ml•Diving in for the first time - what am I getting myself into 😅English
3·7 days agoAnother commenter corrected me that the bay12 version still is full featured but I definitely suggest getting the steam version for the graphics and ui alone. Definitely worth it in my opinion

2·7 days agoOh is that so? My mistake! I will edit my previous post. I thought I remembered that adventure mode and some other features were not coming to that version, but it appears I am mistaken. Thank you for the correction!

4·7 days agoSteam version has
all the new updates and features, it is what you’ll want to choose. The og available from their website I believe is now depreciated since the stream launch but it is still a glorious piece of softwarethe new graphics set and ui which makes playing a lot more user friendly. You can still get texture packs for the og version but I would still recommend supporting the creators and buying the game.

Open Source@lemmy.ml•Open-source game engine Godot is drowning in 'AI slop' code contributions: 'I don't know how long we can keep it up'
10·7 days agoI’m thinking we are going to have to come up with a way to vet contributors before allowing them to contribute code. This will likely reduce the overall contributions of people given we’re creating a barrier to entry, but so many of these FOSS projects are just straight getting overwhelmed with this shit. Something needs to change.

World News@lemmy.world•EU opens investigation into Shein over sale of childlike sex dollsEnglish
4·9 days agoWell that’s a slippery slope now, isn’t it? No one is saying just a little bit of child abuse is okay, and my entire argument is that I don’t see a correlation. Extremely distasteful? Sure, but I have no desire to censor or restrict another’s actions that don’t harm or affect others, which is why I say show the correlation.
Communities that are normalizing paedophilia and spreading actual csam are absolutely an issue. They need to be shut down and offenders need to be held responsible for their actions. Those are things I agree must be ardently fought against normalizing, however I reject your notion that using a sex dolls equates to just a little bit of pedophilia. I will again reiterate that I see that as the same viewpoint of playing a violent video games makes you a violent person, and we know this to be false.
Most people understand the difference between reality and fantasy and the moral implications of having a fantasy versus acting on it. A chunk of plastic does not equal a child.
Adorable and identifiable!

World News@lemmy.world•EU opens investigation into Shein over sale of childlike sex dollsEnglish
36·9 days agoI’m definitely gonna be in the minority here looking at the comments, but this is rapidly approaching thought crime levels of regulation in my opinion. If they want to regulate sex dolls, show there is a correlation, prove that this is a pathway to extremism so to speak.
If this evidence already exists and I’m ignorant of it, please share, because I will happily change my stance.
Otherwise it really just feels like video games cause violence bullshit to me and reaks on senseless vilification. I’m pretty sure everyone has had thoughts that they’d never act on and repulse themselves for having, just as I’m sure many of you have watched videos or played video games depicting actions you would never participate in in reality. I really struggle to see this as problematic.
That’s a serious shame to hear about. Creality has been a staple of the community since the reprap days. I don’t think I can count the number of people I know who had an ender as their first 3d printer.
It kind of sounds like they’re struggling with the transition from hobbiest products to appliances and are losing some of their soul along the way.
Sorry you’re going through that, but thank you for sharing.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I almost crashed my car today, but I managed to avoid it.
4·11 days agoI always say the dangerous thing on the road is other drivers, and you’re right, there wasn’t really anything you could do in that situation. Glad you were all right.

Dull Men's Club@lemmy.world•I chopped more wood today, and stacked it in a criss-cross pattern this time
5·12 days agoDo the various stacking methods affect how the wood dries or burns? I have it stuck in my head from somewhere that stacking with that cross pattern is better for letting the logs get and stay dried out.

Programming@programming.dev•You can code only 4 hours per day. Here’s why.
6·13 days agoI feel like with neurodivergent types it balances out to around that anyways. Yes, I may spend 3 days hyper focused on a task 10 hours a day, but the rest of the week or month it’s might just be 10 minutes a day I can focus lol.
My eating habits especially close to bed absolutely dictate my quality of sleep and how I feel in the morning. Just not coffee, wooo ADHD
Pay your respect wanks!

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What happens when everyone just moves from discord to the public matrix server?
4·13 days agoReading matrix’s blog posts they seem keenly aware of the issues surrounding it being a discord replacement and the complications with self hosting. It seems they are responding to the community but are also pretty stretched thin for having the money to develop it quicker and turn things more polished and user friendly. I’m hoping the influx of new users will also result in an influx of donors and some rapid progress.
That being said, if not matrix, I expect someone will take up the mantle and in the not too distant future there will be fairly literal drop in replacements that are oss.

News@lemmy.world•What's Behind the Rise in Colon Cancer in Young Guys?
5·13 days agoI’ve pretty much always had digestive issues, but then again I’ve pretty much always had anxiety. I’ve gotten a lot better at differentiating my anxiety from actual issues, but a large part of that journey has been talking to doctors and getting tested for things… And then them inevitably telling me everything seems fine 😅
