Hi Polyglots team,

I’m looking for guidance on how to get proper support. I’ve translated a .pot filePOT file POT files are the template files for PO files. They will have all the translation strings left empty. A POT file is essentially an empty PO file without the translations, with just the original strings. to pt-PT for wordpress coreCore Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress., and the translations are correctly saved, but they’re not being reflected in the emails I receive from the system (e.g. WooCommerce order emails).

I’d like to understand:

Is there a specific process I need to follow to make the translations apply to email templates?

Is this likely to be a cache or domain mapping issue?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Best regards,
Ricardo

Status of the @kowordpressorg Twitter/X Handle for ko.wordpress.org

Hi Polyglots,

I’d like to share an update regarding the @kowordpressorg Twitter/X handle, which has historically been associated with the Korean WordPress community and the ko.wordpress.orgWordPress.org The community site where WordPress code is created and shared by the users. This is where you can download the source code for WordPress core, plugins and themes as well as the central location for community conversations and organization. https://wordpress.org/ RosettaRosetta The code name of the theme for the local WordPress sites (eg. bg.wordpress.org is a “Rosetta” site). All locale specific WordPress sites are referred to as “Rosetta sites.” The name was inspired from the ancient Rosetta Stone, which contained more or less the same text in three different languages. site.

As of 2024, the Korean WordPress translation team has been officially re-formed, but unfortunately, we currently have no administrative access to the @kowordpressorg account. The original account owner is unreachable, and our attempts to contact former community members via KakaoTalk, Facebook groups, and other local channels have not been successful.

While there was some informal connection to the old kopress.kr community, most of those contacts are now inactive.

In recent discussions on GitHubGitHub GitHub is a website that offers online implementation of git repositories that can easily be shared, copied and modified by other developers. Public repositories are free to host, private repositories require a paid subscription. GitHub introduced the concept of the ‘pull request’ where code changes done in branches by contributors can be reviewed and discussed before being merged be the repository owner. https://github.com/ (Marketing Team Issue #525) and the MetaMeta Meta is a term that refers to the inside workings of a group. For us, this is the team that works on internal WordPress sites like WordCamp Central and Make WordPress. team, it was suggested that:

The simplest option is to regain access through the original account holder, though this seems unlikely.

Trademark claims are a long and uncertain process, especially since this is not a clear impersonation issue.

An alternative is to create a new account and share credentials with the Community team to avoid future access issues.

While the number of active contributors in the Korean Polyglots teamPolyglots Team Polyglots Team is a group of multilingual translators who work on translating plugins, themes, documentation, and front-facing marketing copy. https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/. is currently small, those involved — including myself — believe it’s important to preserve the Rosetta site’s identity by reclaiming the @kowordpressorg handle if possible.

Since the handle @kowordpressorg directly represents the Rosetta site identity, it’s something that affects the localeLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. A list of all locales supported by WordPress in https://make.wordpress.org/polyglots/teams/’s official channels and coordination.

In hindsight, I believe it would’ve been appropriate to raise this discussion on the Polyglots team blog and pingPing The act of sending a very small amount of data to an end point. I also believe this should have been a topic for broader community discussion, not only within the Marketing Team but also with Locale Managers and the Korean Polyglots team.

It directly relates to our locale’s official communication channels, and any decisions about official handles should be made in collaboration with those managing the locale and translations.

We’d love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, or possible experiences from other localesLocale Locale = language version, often a combination of a language code and a region code, for instance es_MX denotes Spanish as it’s used in Mexico. We GTEs receive AI translations on a daily basis but users like, and this is just one example, trwoobewoo (https://profiles.wordpress.org/trwoobewoo/) is totally unacceptable, as they send directly the – conversational – generative AI response as translation, and honestly, we are starting to get a bit fed up with AI translations being sent without the slightest review.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/woo-currency/stable/es/default/?filters%5Bstatus%5D=changesrequested

Someone should remember that there are still people out there, that we take time away from our jobs and families to check translations, and that it is a total disrespect to our altruistic volunteer work – and necessary, more and more, thanks to AIs, as almost nobody sends translations made by humans anymore and, consequently, it is more and more important the proofreading work.
