Another W.A.V.E. down and it's like you both don't ever know what you're going to get and also accept you know exactly what you're going to get. I do think there's something to be said about women and the queer community embracing these W.A.V.E. produced sexploitation films in recent years. I think it's a few factors like reclaiming the material, the sex-positive community of women around these films, and also the camp. Nothing like hanging out in the weird little worlds of these movies.

As someone who has very lukewarm on Barbarian, Weapons took me by absolute surprise.
I loved the hyperlink film approach with the storytelling, leading to a unique and thoughtful approach to this kind of mystery horror thriller. It's more deeply interested in doing a character study and social commentary which I loved. You see this how this whole town deals with a tragedy and grief, and shows a reflection of the decaying smalltown itself.

A sick little film. We watch as two women are kidnapped by a Sawyer family riff with a diet Chop Top and even a grandpa, and are forced into unspeakable horrors. Degradation through incest, watersports, pet play, and torture after torture. It is an uncomfortable and unflinching film.
