Jesse better have sent that trusting bartender his money. Wonderful dialogue and enjoyed the Vienna setting. Anyone who teased a homeless guy with a $100 would no longer be a friend of mine. I feel the same way about palm readers as Jesse but cringed the way he expressed it. Quaker weddings sound terrible. Loved the conversations about life and death, feminism, parents, romance, etc., great stuff. A soulful film.

Telling your kid to not hang with his older brother’s cool friends is a long shot. Liked the cinematography and openness, but also yelled at the screen about being subjected to more water skiing. Laughed when the kids scoffed at the idea at Japan being a future titan of industry. Score was trying to jam in as much sleazy jazz as possible. Needed some more character work, didn’t feel like I knew these people.

Ah, if only I had known about that delayed personhood concept when the kids were younger, could have shut down many an argument. This was wonderful, a hodgepodge of styles with some Burton, Dahl and violence mixed together but it worked for me. Great restaurants in this universe. Aurora’s was wonderful but maybe a bit much for day-to-day living. Great chemistry between the kid and Mads. CGI a little weak, but liked the creature design.

Bad roller skating is hilarious, comedies should have more of it. A couple great songs and Babs handles the comedy and dramatic elements well. Thought Ziegfeld was walking her to the fire exit after the bride song. Nick’s accent is doing the heavy lifting to make him seem charming. Wished for more focus on her career. Lots of fake looking money in this. Now I can talk to my Glee-loving daughter about if Rachel could pull this off.
