Meredith’s effects and artwork feed perfectly into each other. His drawings linger, and the practical moments hit with some truly gnarly imagery worthy of the great vintage SOV horror flicks of the early 90s. The story is tight, spooky, and full of small-town legend energy. Pacing is sharp; packs a full feature’s worth of punch in under an hour.
Because this turned into such a loving tribute to Romero, I bumped it up half a star. Almost no other filmmaker do I feel such a kinship than George, but as a doc this is...fine? It's very much here-say with no one involved in the process or making of this Resident Evil movie actually a talking head.
