Funny to watch this the same week that we saw the Met's astonishing production of Innocence, another Nordic school-shooting saga featuring (spoiler?) a black woman would-be shooter and a wedding party derailed by long-kept secrets. Can't help myself, sorry: These are not really Pynchonian names: "Stephen J. Lockjaw" "Sisters of the Brave Beaver" "Christmas Avengers"—they're fine, whatever, but too self-conscious in that sad Gen-X way, too literal, aiming for humor rather than harmony, no real poetry, nothing on Frenesi Gates, Brock Vond, Zoyd Wheeler. "Chase Infiniti" is more Pynchonian a name than "Perfidia Beverly Hills."
