A bit of a one-trick pony after the shock of the “revelation” settles in, but that pony knows how to work a room bitch. As many skin-crawling laughs as there is head-in-hands moments of cringe. Robert Pattinson and Alana Haim are both fantastic, with the former pushing the part of spineless cuck to dizzying new heights. Zendaya is also perfect as the stone-faced cipher at the centre of the film, playing along but only ever revealing just enough to send Charlie spiralling further.
Very funny and a great conversation starter. It’s so refreshing to see a big movie like this genuinely commit to being provocative.
