God, Douglas Sirk knows how to shoot a movie, doesn't he? All bold colours and luxurious fabrics and swelling strings.

A weird little blend of lovely crooning Bing and ridiculous slapstick, complete with a gorilla. Definitely the kind of thing you'd love seeing in a theatre before the main feature, especially in 1933.

You know I'm always here for Ryan Gosling being a beaten up wet creature. I mean, I kinda wish it was a little less polished, but, to be honest, it's a movie about a stunt man. What else could it do but hit all the right cues at exactly right points? This is what it has to do.
It was just fun. Nowhere near serious fun.
