Well. This is a fascinating mess.

David Lowery blends gothic horror and psychological thriller all wrapped up in the tortured glamor of pop star glitz. Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel are riveting, but this felt emotionally hollow. I could never get my bearings within the story.

Perhaps my favorite David Fincher film.

This was gorgeous in 4K, one of the better 4K remasters I’ve ever seen. David Fincher’s classic is still just as iconic and prescient, but I couldn’t help but notice the film’s themes of repackaging culture feeling even more relevant now.

One Battle After Another joins the pantheon of movies that have come out in the last few years, similar to Eddington or Civil War, that hold up a mirror for our divisive politics and times.
