A haunting but beautiful glimpse into poverty, communal breakdown, political regime change, and memory. Despite how subtle the narrative is, every point is made so clear and succinct that even with one viewing you can get the stories being told. Costa doesn't spoon feed us anything, but rather embeds us in the events of everyday life of Fontainhas; letting us see the story for ourselves. Every character is just so ordinary — being that they are real people playing themselves…
Is anyone able to explain what's so great about this movie? All I see is bad acting, awkward camera direction, a shallow plotline, and some pretty obvious film mistakes. Like really, what's so redeeming here?
