Canada@lemmy.ca•Apparently Canadians are notorius cheaters in the sport of Curling
16·6 days agoOne instance should be a penalty.
However, apparently this athlete is known to have done it repeatedly and got caught because the Swedish team prepared their own camera angle. Only one instance may have been caught, but it was caught because he already had a reputation for it.

1142·6 days agoNot really a good look for us. Would rather our athletes not cheat on an international stage representing our country. Play by the rules or not at all. Thank you very much.

Linux@programming.dev•Those who've switched to Linux in the last year, how is it going?
1·9 days agoI’d suggest coming and joining the Sim Racing On Linux discord: https://discord.gg/xTvw6RYjA
There’s is definitely a process to getting AC modded correctly.
Yeah I don’t think Firefox supports the DRM for live watching. And definitely not if you’re on Linux

3·1 month agoBought a new gaming PC with an AMD GPU and went straight for Bazzite almost a year ago. It was pretty damn painless and straightforward. Especially the only thing I use it for are singleplayer or indie multiplayer games. Almost everything worked out if the box.
A lot of sim racing stuff worked surprisingly well.
It was a pain to learn how to install Assetto Corsa with its mods, needs a specific version of proton with specific windows libraries installed, but once I figured that all out it runs great.
It was also a pain when I bought a Chinese handbrake for sim racing, but thanks to the Sim Racing On Linux discord, a member wrote a custom driver for it for me and another member that bought it. Unfortunately, I can’t exactly install custom kernel drivers on Bazzite, so I ended up switching to CachyOS and have been enjoying that so far. It was a bit of a pain to switch as it requires more tinkering, but I got to a place where it was running nicely fairly quickly.
Seems like it should be easy to automate a bit to post the discussion threads. I’ve never been a mod before but I could be willing to help depending on how much work it is

Don’t know what I am yet, but definitely confident enough to consider myself LGBTQ last year at 30

F-Droid@lemmy.ml•Key handover in the dark: Syncthing fork community raises alarm
2·2 months agoYeah I really don’t like this. Seems lik a terrible way to do this.
I’ve disabled updates on it.
I already no longer use it to sync my music (moved to Navidrome with Symfonium). Do I move away for my personal photos & documents?
I was not aware of any falling out years ago. Nextcloud and syncthing are definitely for different applications though
I guess I’ll pause updates for now. Not sure if I want to learn termux at the moment.
I’m so confused. I don’t know what to do or who to trust for this. I wonder if I should uninstall Syncthing until this all blows over.
I am on version 2.0.10.1, that I’m pretty sure I got from Obtainium. It’s no longer in my list of installed apps on Obtainium so I can’t be sure I suppose.
I think the comic is trying to illustrate the difference between people who consider Y to be the vertical axis or z to be the vertical axis.
I think the right hand rule vs left hand rules coordinate systems was a mistake.

Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System@lemmy.ml•(bug) Jellyfin keeps playing the wrong language even when the right one is selectedEnglish
2·3 months agoI think one has this one recently. I had to watch from the web player to get it to work correctly.
There are clearly more than two. In the top image that z-axis is pointing in the wrong direction.
Are they still underpants if you’re wearing them over pants?
I knew immediately what I was going to see when opening the link haha
So printer drivers are not particularly part of the desktop environment.
However, if it helps, my decade old printer HP P1606dn worked out of the box. Literally, a better experience than installing it’s drivers on Windows these days.

Yes, I can touch type. I had a computer class in my year of high school where they taught us all how to do it.
