Reminds me of the view from Brasstown Bald, but I don’t think it is.

No, this is called Beauty Spot AFAIK. I’m not sure of any other name for it and I’ve lived here 20+ years

A view is a view, though, and I’m sure yours was majestic too!

    > be me. Business trip to Texas fml

    > get some shitty subcompact rental car

    > try to drive to some state park on weekend

    > the location? About 3 hours driving away

    > the cell tower reception? KEKW

    > the road? On a 20 foot raised ridge for some texan fucking reason

    > the wind? 42069 mph, perpendicular to the road

    > literally turning the steering wheel against the wind to maintain driving straight

    > literally feel like I’m going to get blown off the road and die

    > in Texas so actually do want to die

    > wish I was in a big truck for the first time in my life

    > after hours of white knuckle driving finally get there

    > Amarillo texas, the biggest pile of shit I’ve ever seen in my life

    > literally. Active mountain of cow shit being farmed and sold as fertilizer right next to the town

    Texas. Not even once.

wish I was in a big truck for the first time in my life

FYI, big trucks are even worse for being blown around by the wind. The increased weight does not make up for the increased windage.

Can confirm. I’m an EMT and our ambulances get thrown around in a stiff breeze while my dinky shit box only starts getting squirrely when there’s a tropical storm

It’s not that significant of an increase in weight unloaded, it has more surface area, like you said, and also that surface and center of mass is higher, so there’s more torque from the wind and it’s easier to tip over. Yeah, really not good for wind. The best option would be the smallest possible electric car probably, or maybe a truck carrying a load of sand or something dense.

Yeah well, you don’t want to be behind a Smart Car’s wheel when it’s windy

Huh. I always thought the big trucks would do better in the wind, and I’ve never questioned that assumption. TIL

I live in Oklahoma. Everything this man says is true. Real shithole, this part of the country. That and the shit schools are what make the houses so cheap.

If you live in Moore, don’t blink. You might miss the tornado sweeping your house away. Again.

You know it’s strange to me how the US has a Midwest but there’s no middle.

Midwest got its name because at one point it was very hard to get past the Rocky, Cascadia, and Coastal mountain ranges that each span from Canada to Mexico. So the Midwest was sort of the middle point between the East Coast and the Rockies.
