1·1 month agoI guess I was so caught up in the GPU shortage that went under my radar. Seemingly nothing is immune from these component shortages.

Linux@lemmy.ml•GNOME & Firefox Consider Disabling Middle Click Paste By Default: "An X11'ism...Dumpster Fire"English
1·2 months agoIf you use a ThinkPad that has its track point designed around the assumption that middle click is used for scroll and only scroll, it will send you crazy. Thankfully KDE can disable it in most apps through a setting, but some apps keep on doing it anyway.

Hardware@lemmy.world•Blu-ray hits 20 years old, and it isn't dead yet — optical disc format was introduced to the public at CES 2006English
1·2 months agoThat is a bit odd. Maybe it doesn’t sell that well in the EU. Here in the UK pretty much all the major retailers sell them, plus the PlayStation Direct store.

Hardware@lemmy.world•Blu-ray hits 20 years old, and it isn't dead yet — optical disc format was introduced to the public at CES 2006English
5·2 months agoThe PS5 does have a media remote. It is available for sale at most retailers that stock PS5 controllers.

The old Dysons are way better than whatever the hell they’re doing nowadays. I could genuinely feel the difference in the plastic quality when I moved from an older DC 39 to a newer Big Ball (the Big Ball’s is significantly worse). Not to mention the Big Ball has gone through two roller heads (both had the mechanism break). No wonder their newer cordless models have a 2 year warranty instead of the old corded 5 year. They used to be really good, if a bit expensive, but now the options from Bosch and Miele look far more attractive.

memes@lemmy.world•Its your fault you didint know about the "no posts on alternating Saturdays while Saturn is in retrograde" ruleEnglish
1·2 months agoIt was so off putting when you just wanted to share something and proceeded to get struck down by the wrath of the mods, or worse, the completely opaque auto filtering CQS system. As you can probably tell from my profile, I love making memes, but only really had the courage to start when I joined Lemmy, since if I made a bad one here it would just get downvoted and I would have a chance. This place is such a breath of fresh air.

5·2 months agoYou’d be surprised at how recently the glow plug lighters were removed. I know at least a few mid 2000s VWs that came with it standard and not as part of any smoker’s package option.

Games@lemmy.world•ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE Announcement TrailerEnglish
31·3 months agoFrom what I have heard, it is most likely the USS Hornet (CV-12, the museum ship, not CV-8), as Project Aces used it for 3D scans before the trailer came out. In addition, the museum staff sent out this tweet after the trailer came out:

Cars - For Car Enthusiasts@lemmy.world•Toyota’s new GR GT picks up where the 2000GT and Lexus LFA left off - Ars TechnicaEnglish
3·3 months agoThere are no words to describe how badly I want the electric LFA concept at the end of the article to go into production. Sure, it’ll be crazy expensive and low volume, but considering the wizardry that went into the original LFA I think it’d end up being one of the best cars of all time.

Nintendo@lemmy.world•Pokemon Pokopia launches March 5, 2026English
3·4 months ago£58.99 (UK price) is the same price as Legends Z-A, despite Pokopia seemingly being a smaller side game. Even if the game is good, there is no way it’s going to sell well at that price to anyone other than die-hard Pokemon fans. Persona 5 Tactica (which I really like) did the exact same thing (full game price for smaller side game) and it did not end well, copies of Tactica still linger on clearance to this day for sometimes less than 20% of the original price since a lot of the launch excitement evaporated.

My life forever changed when I found out you could play Mario Kart with a Nunchuk instead of the motion controls. It’s so much better.
