Horizon was like years after release, and even if it’s a first time launch on another platform just by virtue of people having already had to wait the same hype isn’t going to be there to buy it.

But then when a game launched at the same time such as Helldivers 2, PC outsold the PS5.

According to analyst firm Alinea Analytics, Helldivers 2 has sold 12 million copies on Steam alone, while PlayStation 5 sales are estimated at 5 million units.

Another scary thing is Palantir who’d be all for the push for verification with them positioning themselves to make money off of it, and wanting to be responsible for collecting data on everyone. They already turned out to be a partner of Discord through Persona.

They’ve already pushed for government contracts even in Europe. And with how things look like with the US government how much confidence is there in the US government.

I’m not sure government involvement will lead to the type of outcome people think it will.

It’s more I’m skeptical of government intentions these days. And not like the US government venture into the area is going to fill me with confidence.

When it comes to social media for example I’ve seen more comments and headlines of people saying stuff like it should be banned for younger people, which of course would mean the need for verification. Something companies like Palantir or links to it like Persona see money there is to make from it. And pushing for government contracts not just in the US but in the EU.

And think of the children has been a go to strategy to try to get people onboard with general push to collect more information.

Ideally straight up banning loot boxes and classifying it as Casinos would be ideal to kill it off. I’m just worried that it’s going to instead turn into a justification used to require ID collection, since what people see as a solution and the actual goal of governments don’t often align.

It isn’t always that simple. It could lead to age verification requirements which might be the goal as opposed to banning loot boxes. Then what has people upset about discord wanting face scans or IDs could end up becoming a legal requirement for online gaming accounts that want to play games rated T and higher.

And this age verification thing has been getting pushed throughout the world with attempts at chat control in the EU and what’s already happened in the UK.

So plays right into tying IDs into everything possible on the web.

What does the future hold?

Well Microsoft started shoving in copilot into more and more of their software from browser to even their notepad. And gamebar on Windows has…you guessed it…copilot.

And then they go and hire an AI affiliated person who likely hasn’t written anything themselves relying on copilot to churn out scripts.

The future is copilot gaming.

Is anyone else wondering if this is going to turn into another attempt to try to force face scans and id uploads?

Ideally the rule would be to just flat out not allow loot boxes, but I feel the government is going to try to use this opportunity to justify age verification requirements instead.

So I can see why people like the look of it.

I noticed articles and social media topics are going really aggressive with we need to ban social media because it’s bad for kids, and bunch of comments advocating for verification. Which of course would mean what discord is attempting to do with IDs and face scans.

Which is so bizzare seeing the backlash to discord by real people, but then non discord related topics all pro about verification.

I remember when it initially flooded reddit feeds as a Chinese app with /r/all having random Chinese dancing clips and so on. Then next thing I knew everyone was using it. I didn’t though. Was sketched out by the app permissions. And it’s even worse now with the ownership change.

Why wouldn’t I assume someone who is advocating on behalf of infringing upon the independence of another country wouldn’t also argue for the same happening to their own country? Unless you happen to be a hypocrite who only cares if its their country being threatened?

I guess you don’t care about US interference in Alberta either as long as its peaceful. Peaceful conquest seems to be what you are fine with and will go to many lengths to justify its acceptance. Never mind consent of what the general population actually wants.

Tiktok isn’t that old and that it was able to break into being part of category of apps people have a hard time deleting does give hope that not all hope is lost for a new app to join the ranks.

Will just take time for features to match discord and a question of if it’ll be a new shady corporate app that gains popularity.

It’s very inspiring this movement made this much progress. Usually people will go it doesn’t matter and spend more time trying to discourage people from even caring.

Also ended up playing through The Crew which started this whole movement, and I liked it more than Froza with it having a fun Fast and Furious type storyline as opposed to the you are an influencer get fans type approach racing games take these days.

So glad the game got preserved.

It’s very good and a show that could stand on its own even if it didn’t have the Star Wars label. In fact, I wonder if more people would have given it a chance rather than initially dismiss after seeing it was a Star Wars IP after being burnt out by declining quality of Star Wars content.

What you are more likely to see is having to create and log into a Microsoft account on Windows or Apple account on MacOS to gain unrestricted access with IDs for verified accounts to be used on the OS.

With recent attempts at ID collection, subpoenas to reddit demanding user information of those critical of the US admin, and Palantir’s involvement your proposal is coming from a position assuming those groups aren’t the ones pushing for it.

Beginning to wonder if these attempts to push for age restriction are a concerted effort by organizations like Palantir using children to get people buy into it.

Hard to not make the link after subpoenas were issued to those critical of the US administration on reddit.

Would make it much easier to make people fear speaking out against their government on social media if IDs were required, and the government they are under is actively hostile.

That seems to be the end goal with think of the children being an easy entry point.
