An exceptionally stupid strain of nationalism (itself not noted for its intellectual prowess) having sprung up from the 1980s and having become a major political-cultural force in our broken society.

I don’t know that “most” Americans do.

Revolution was a while ago. Too long ago actually to be relevant now. Neither modern Americans nor modern French have anything in common with the US revolution.
