No, I understand that. It’s shortsighted though, to think that staying on fossil fuels is the pathway to profitability. Real innovation in the energy sector is going to be electrification, renewables, and storage, and fossil energy is already a developed industry. They’re too captured by oil and gas donor money to follow their own profit-driven logic.

The rest of the planet understands that climate change is real and is acting accordingly. The US is the odd one out. Even then, US states, local governments, businesses, universities, etc all also understand that climate change is real and are moving forward with decarbonization. It’s the federal government and red states that are doing their best to stop what everyone else agrees is just common sense, if we don’t want the planet to cook

Oh, you’re totally fine! AFAIK, your birth certificate stays with the state you were born in, with no way to transfer it elsewhere. I’ve heard of people in a similar boat to me who were further along changing their docs, but their birth state wouldn’t cooperate on the birth certificate

That’s a good question about moving out of the country though, I’m not sure. Since I’d get my citizenship certificate now, as an adult, I would guess that I’d just need to update the gender marker on my Canadian citizenship certificate, and then who cares what the US thinks.

Both, depending on which document. Usually changing your birth certificate is the first step, and those are held by the state health department in the state you were born in, regardless of where you live now. Your driver’s license, though, you change with whatever state you’re currently residing in that issued the license. And then your passport is dealt with by the federal government. It’s a mess lol

I came out to my wife almost a year ago, and while we certainly had plenty of conversations to figure out how we felt about it initially, we’re still going strong with no plans to separate, and hoping to have a baby in the next year or so. Why would having a baby mean you’re stuck not transitioning?

Part of why I decided to transition is because being a mom sounds amazing to me, but I was dreading having to be a dad. If your wife is supportive (although it sounds like maybe she isn’t), there are lots of families with trans parents.
