How do you say it though? „It’s the 2026 March 12“?

When naming files that need to be alphanumerically sorted, yyyymmdd it’s absolutely what anyone I know will use. But in writing or language, mmddyyyy is the way to go. You start with the most gradual denominator, since it’s the most important and you sometimes skip the larger ones because they can be evident
But why do US-Americans say March 3rd? The British don’t. They prefer 3rd of March. And the USA loves their 4th of july…
This list is missing the Sunbeam Radiant Control Toaster, which is utterly unique, and, imo, absolutely S-Tier.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Coworker wants to try Linux with gaming, Bazzite or Mint?
71·23 days agoCan recommend nobara. Has all the game focused stuff bazzite has but it’s just regular old fedora with the dnf package manager underneath.
I like her work. It’s a pretty large part of my childhood. I very much oppose her views though and I will not pay for anything that benefits her financially.

This post probably isn’t about sex but about gender. Those are two very different albeit related concepts. Sure, biology is mostly binary (although not quite as black and white, if you’re looking at any other features than gamete types. Femininity and masculinity do not define themselves by gamete type), but psychology very much isn’t binary.
My thoughts exactly. If you don’t want a thin and lite, don’t get one. Just don’t expect a brand like apple to build thick and rugged macbooks. But there are definitely laptops out there that fit those specifications.

7·1 month agoOh yea, exactly. I don’t watch it a ton but I‘m glad it exists.

If you’re looking for actual dates, not hookups, I can very much recommend hinge. The platform makes it surprisingly easy to start a conversation.
Oh yea, sorry. I was tired, exhausted n stoned n fucked up the correct order of our planets
And it has an orbit at a different angle than the 8 Planets and at it’s narrowest the ellipse of Plutos orbit is actually closer to the Sun than
UranusNeptune.Edit: That moment when you‘re so done, you fuck up the order of our planets…
Ausnahmsweise mal nicht.
- Polaroid cameras love light. If you’re not taking a picture outside on a bright day, always use the flash.
- only buy one pack of film at first. Polaroid film is stupidly expensive (like >2€ per picture) and as long as you haven’t confirmed that the camera works properly, it‘s not worth investing more.
- Don’t shake it „like a polaroid“. This’ll negatively impact your photo. Instead just protect the picture from light for the first few minutes and let it develop by itself.
- modern Polaroid film cassettes only hold 8 pictures. The camera will count down from 10, though. Keep that in mind.
- You‘ll need Polaroid 600 film for that camera. Not SX-70 film (wrong sensitivity) and not i-Type film (no integrated battery).
- always store fresh film cool (fridge or freezer), if you’re planning on storing it longer. It will go bad after a time.
- for the same reason, don’t keep the film unused in the camera for a long time. Also, avoid opening the film door, while you still have pictures left.
Also, it looks like there’s a piece missing at the front of the camera. I’m not sure, if it’s just a decorative cover or if it’s actually a piece of the mechanism, like the rollers. Before you buy any film, try to confirm all parts are there by looking at pictures of that camera or by showing me/us sone more.

4·2 months agoLast I‘ve checked time traveling isn’t real but here you are, with an account created in the year 2444.
In German we‘d call that kaufkraftbereinigt. Adjusted for purchasing power.
Adjusted for inflation from '53 to today that’s like $3 per gallon. Converted to metrics I understand that’s like 0,68€ a liter. That’s that‘s about a third of what you pay in Germany these days (incl. tax) on a bad day. (Typically around 1,80€/l)

That just makes texts harder to read. In my native language, we‘d read 12.03.2026 as „12th 3rd 2026“, not as „12th of march 2026“. My instinct would instantly just read 2026-03-12 as „2026 oh-3 12“. Which, I guess is understandable but not a great flow.
But I also don’t get your dollar thing. We write it 100€ because that’s the way you read it.
