I’d settle for G-Maps just showing how long a drive takes if you drive the speed limit. Last time I took a long drive the estimate assumed I’d be doing more than ten over the whole way.

It’s right now. Indies everywhere, and we’ve successfully gotten past the worst of the always-online bullshit and PTW that plagued the early part of the millennium. More than half of my “all time favorite” games are still in active production today (sometimes continued by fans), and I’m not a young guy.

I’m a big Neal Stephenson fan, but the Baroque Cycle was a friggen’ case study in his worst failing at the time: Unable to to tye all the narrative threads into a neat ending, he just. kept. writing. book after book until he finally petered out.

If I’m shopping, as opposed to just buying, it’s because I don’t already have a brand I prefer. Or because I’m thrifting. There a few brands I avoid for quality or ethics reasons, but mostly I’ll take whatever fits best at a reasonable price.

Okay jokes aside for real this time, Latin America is too big and diverse to lump together. There’s a few commonalities, like:

• soccer / futbol
• jus soli citizenship
• good food

…but two out of three of those you’ll also find in Anglo-America.
