Why would anyone need to admit anything to HR? That’s the sort of shit that whoever did it goes to the grave with!

2·1 day agoWe are also just ignoring the fact that this is all blatantly unconstitutional. At least I’m pretty sure it is but IANAL but apparently knowing or caring about the law and our system of government is not a requirement for anyone in this admin so I feel equally qualified as the idiots voting for this shit.

United States | News & Politics@lemmy.ml•New York City police investigating after officers were hit with snowballs during a snowball fight
2·1 day agoThere’s nothing in the article about a call though.
That’s why I figured they probably were just walking their normal beat and ran across the snowball fight but hell if I know. It’s just, there’s so much shit going on all the time I doubt the NYPD would even dispatch cops to a call about a snowball fight.
Usually they just will be a part of it, it sounds like maybe there were some people being a little too aggressive or violent towards the cops but I mean also ACAB so maybe the cops are just being butthurt.
Honestly of all the places I’ve visited or lived I felt like the NYPD were the most professional and helpful cops. Which is pretty sad but the bar is real low.

11·2 days agoYou’re a silly person, aren’t ya.
Yeah fuck me for acknowledging AR glasses or other AR tech could be very useful but it’s being limited by our privacy concerns that are basically theater at this point.
Truly I am so cowardly Mr big internet man.

13·2 days agoI’m just being realistic about the future. You already are carrying around a machine that’s listening and watching. You’re walking into and out of stores where you’re on camera. Hell you’re driving past however many cameras in your car or walking past them on the street, every business, every office, every space has cameras now.
Thus, I think eventually more and more augmented reality devices will be seen because people will come to appreciate their uses outside of just being recording devices once that concern is overcome. In other words, wearing AR glasses won’t get you default labeled as some perverted weirdo.
You don’t need to bend the knee but we’re past the point where there should be any expectation of privacy in public spaces. I’m not saying I like it, I’m saying I expect our society to continue to move towards a surveillance model where privacy simply cannot be expected in any public space.
Do I think it’s dystopian and bad, yes, yes I do. I also think we need strong privacy protections for our private domiciles. That doesn’t mean my opinion is aligned with what actually is going to happen in our world.
I don’t want it but it’s what is going to happen and has been happening.

46·2 days agoThe truth is that we already are living in the surveillance state and people are just going to have to “get over” being recorded in public by anyone that walks by.
I don’t like it either. But that’s the reality we’re entering into, where privacy isn’t a right but a privilege and that privilege does not exist save for some very select (if any at this point) places like your home … Maybe.

The “acting” alone was so bad I think I got 45 minutes or so in before I just gave up, it was that bad.
This is too rage-inducing to be real … Right?

1·6 days agoRussia is honestly just a worse version of the USA at this point with all the same problems and a little more extreme hate of lgbtq community.
But that’s not really surprising given their history.
They have the benefits most of us should be getting.
We all should have those benefits but that would require us to give a fuck about labor. In my opinion, cops get those benefits for two reasons.
One: they protect the capital investments of the borgeousie so they’re a privileged class to keep them happy.
Two: police have unions that actually fight for them.

They said they were trying to improve stuff but I think they accomplished what their actual goals were. I still can’t believe people voted for Trump after the first go around and fucking everything but apparently we’re surrounded by some real dumb folks.
I like to throw stuff like this into Google Translate just to see what it thinks and it told me that’s “Sichuan Spicy Chicken” which seems like an actual good translation!

3·8 days agoCapitalism. Everything you described costs money to create and maintain and it generates zero (or negative) profit. Most people aren’t going to want to pay for some sort of nanny toolkit.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you and it should be like that. Our current systems are not going to bring that about though.

I thought the exact same thing! I expected at one point, with all the excellent choreography happening, that the bushes were for sure going to get involved in the dancing.
I don’t speak Spanish so I didn’t understand what bad bunny was singing but that show was still awesome to watch. The people hating on it must be such losers in real life.

They’re called tyranids. They’re in 40k … They literally consume whole planets and take things from the genetic code of the various species they’ve made contact with. They’re a hive mind entity.
Sure, it’s no pit in the ground eating someone for a stupid long time but it’s pretty close.
