My main concern about AI is that it’s rotting our cognitive abilities, yours seem to be founded in an environmental stance. I can respect that, and I think it’s a valid argument.

I looked it up at a local refurbished phone dealer. A pixel 9a with 256GB storage in “excellent” condition (the second best condition) is 500€.

While I’m not big on equine nephrology, or veteranary physiology in general even, I suppose that it’s reasonable to assume, that not 100% of horses would survive ingesting the caffeine equivalent of 14l of coffee at once. But going from “some horses would die from this” to “this story is definitely fake” is just bad reasoning.

Not every horse, human, or humpback whale would survive consuming 36 red bulls. But it’s not unreasonable to assume that a majority of humans would survive.

Yes, there’s always going to be outliers, that’s how statistics work. That LD50 is 192mg/kg just means that 50% will have died by that point. Some individuals can survive beyond that point, while 50% couldn’t.
I’m not saying that 50% of the population will be honky dory a-ok after surviving, what killed the first half. Just that it’s not unlikely that you could survive consuming 18l of red bull over the course of 10h23m. You’d probably still be pretty fucked up, but surviving is a subset of being fucked up, not the other way around.
I’m not going to fabricate stories, but if the explanation for something is “AI was used irresponsibly” then I would tend to not dismiss the idea. And I’d be prone to propagate the idea far more. It’s not a conscious choice mind you, that statement is a result of self-reflection.
The way people unquestionably, irresponsibly, and without the slighest contemplation of the ramifications, are using AI for the most mundane tasks, worries me. Why do you need to make a photo of someone, who haven’t accepted the use case, into a drawing? Why do you need to have an AI transcribe our meeting and summarize the points? Nobody’s going to read the summary anyway, and now some unknown entity knows what other people said with an otherwise ordinary expectation of privacy.
One thing is that tech overlords have already scraped every image, sound bite, video clip, and written word publicly, and semi-publicly, available. Don’t give them more material.
