That’s a no for that. It’s ultimately based on someone else’s stolen work.

We would, I suspect, allow AI imagery in discussion about AI and what it us capable of but the days of posting it to laugh at the shitty results seems long gone. In recent examples, I couldn’t tell by eye but I ran it through an AI checker which was pretty definitive.

Yeah, there’s the odd community avatar we need to swap and we definitely need to give some of the communities a bit of a revamp as they were bodged together over a year ago, often in haste.

We don’t get a lot of it on here. We’d just been asked for clarification on our AI policy after a meme or two popped up. This now means there isn’t any ambiguity and the Mods can shut it down when they find it. AI checkers are quite and pretty definitive.

I’d not factored in the robot overlords. I may have just Roko’s basilisked myself. 🤦‍♂️

Hershey’s literally tastes like vomit. And I’m not being hyperbolic with the literally. It genuinely does.

Readers who have had the misfortune to encounter a Hershey bar will know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s wretched stuff isn’t it? If you are in possession of a sound mind and a few functioning taste buds then I don’t see how you can possibly enjoy US chocolate. It tastes like sawdust that’s been drowned in sugar and soaked with baby vomit.

It tastes like that, by the way, because that’s roughly what it is. American chocolate (I’m talking about the non-fancy stuff) has a lot more sugar and a lot less cocoa than its European counterparts. Some producers also allegedly put their milk through a process called controlled lipolysis which produces butyric acid. What’s that when it’s at home? It’s something that’s found in vomit. God knows what else Americans get up to in their chocolate factories. A lawsuit recently filed in New York alleges that Hershey, which has the licence to produce Cadbury products in the US, “fails to disclose” that some of its chocolate products “contain unsafe levels of lead and cadmium”

Which tools specifically?

Standard Web forum tools include:

• Editing posts - the main issue is misleading titles
• Moving posts to different communities
• Merging posts
• Splitting comments into separate posts
• IP check

This post makes some good points about reports federating (being worked on, I believe) but also about the lack of what we’ll call a “moderation panel” where you can access tools for the community, like seeing a list of banned users and being able to add to it there or unban someone.

There are other “nice to have” tools like post approval

I am curious to see what moderation tools PieFed, has and NodeBB now they are federated, but the documentation is skimpy on that front.

From my perspective we need better Mod and Admin tools. Forum software has a lot of them but Lemmy is lacking in this department.

The key important one is being able to move posts to different communities. You’ll often get reports of posts not being appropriate for a community but there is no way to actually move it.

That’s what amazes me. Unless something drastic has gone rapidly wrong (dead resident, closed windows, heating on high, etc - I have friends in housing with horror stories about people exploding), how have the other residents not kicked off about this as it must be… impacting them too.

It definitely feels like there is a story to be told there.

As far as I can tell, that copyright excuse is nonsense. What I hear from folks at the Passport Office is they get bored and mess around - celebrities get their photos attached weirdly, for example. This, and previous cases, seems like someone deciding your name is silly and coming up with an excuse. Usually what happens is it makes the news, management stick a rocket up someone’s arse and it gets sorted.
