And yet, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio tells every medium that he has progress on a Ukraine peace deal, and he just needs to get Russia to sign it, and then we will have peace in Ukraine — as if such a signature would carry any weight.

Is Rubio the grandson of Neville Chamberlain who thought his peace deal with Hitler was real?

I am fascinated by how blindsighted we Europeans sometimes are.

Example:

In Danish news we rarely hear about African countries, but today there was a feature from South Africa, which was covered by our national tv-station DR’s sole Africa correspondent.

That is 1 person, covering a continent of 54 countries with a combined population of 1.56 billion people, and dozens of ongoing wars.

By comparison DR has two correspondents in the US, which is 1 country with 1/5 the population of Africa.

Look, I'm a prison abolitionist. But A) the fascist exception still applies to prisons; you can't treat nazis like normal people because they are not normal people and they very clearly and openly mean to destroy everything and everyone you love and also B) you have absolutely no intentions of abolishing the prisons anyway, and if you were we'd be having entirely different conversations.

I'll settle for prison, but I'm open to a rocketship to the sun, if I'm being quite honest here.
