How? Is another question that could be asked here.

That leads to procreation though.

I see, thanks!

Sex and snacks, but no seat at the table: the role of women in Epstein’s sordid men’s club ( www.theguardian.com )

Pluck an email at random from the millions in the Department of Justice’s Epstein Library. It is a Saturday evening in February 2013, and Jeffrey Epstein is messaging Bill Gates’s assistant about guests for a dinner he wants to organise. ...

Well. That was a fun read.

These men are filth. And completely getting away with it.

Right? What's up with all these regular-road-coloured bicycle paths in other countries?

What a nice article. I use Kodi as my music player, or rather my multimedia center. My PC is hooked up to a 7.1 surround amplifier and my TV and I basically run Kodi all day.

Perhaps it would be more power efficient to use something else if I'm only playing music, though. I used to use MPD.

I live in Utrecht... I sometimes see how it is in car-centric countries. It really is a relief to come back home. I don't even have a driver's license, I use my (folding) bicycle+public transport for everything.

toothpaste_sandwich ,
@toothpaste_sandwich@thebrainbin.org avatar

I'm not sure! It's not just Utrecht, the Netherlands as a whole has arguably the best bicycle infrastructure in the world.

There is a very successful "Fietsersbond" (bicyclists' union) that's been around since the fifties, I believe, which probably helped. And the country is very flat, though that shouldn't be an excuse for cities.

I suppose in the past we must've had quite progressive governments, too. Though these days the biggest centre-right party would rather form a coalition with nazis than anything left-wing...

toothpaste_sandwich ,
@toothpaste_sandwich@thebrainbin.org avatar

Thanks for writing all this! I have to mention that @notjustbikes@notjustbikes.com avatar notjustbikes argues that weather is not (or should not?) be a big factor in infrastructure choices around bicycles, though:

toothpaste_sandwich ,
@toothpaste_sandwich@thebrainbin.org avatar

Well... Not quite, unfortunately. A heavily car-centric right-wing party has been the ruling party here for decades now. Fortunately, they know trying to get rid of our bicycle culture would be bad for votes.

Wow, very interesting. But being able to root it is pretty much a must, for me. I wonder if this will give users that freedom.

I suppose we could all band together and send them email after email asking for it... I suppose...

Very nice!

toothpaste_sandwich ,

Unless you do it all yourself? What more do you need? An unlocked bootloader means custom roms and rooting are possible, right?

Lemmy (or in my case rather, Mbin) is increasingly all I need. And I love that.

Still, it's good to know there's at least some open source effort for this device. Better than nothing...

Day 558 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

Today's game is some more Halo. I came home from the showing of Return of The King i mentioned yesterday, having gone with friends this time. During the movie, one of them leaned over and whispered to me "this makes me want to play Halo". It's funny to me i wasn't alone in that thought. Anyways, so we made plans for some PvP. ...

Something I noticed when reading your excellent posts is that you don't capitalize your i's. I have no opinion on whether you should or not, but it did get me thinking—the English language has always seemed a bit interesting to me in that regard. It's the only language I know that does this.

German capitalizes all its nouns, and lots of languages capitalize God and "You" if they're talking about Him (not me though atheist fuck as I am), but only English capitalizes "I". Almost seems a secular statement, if I didn't know better 😅

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

I saw my doctor recently and while talking about what a lazy fat-ass I am, he mentioned something about replacing the crap I usually snack on with healthier snacks like seasoned air-fried cauliflower or something like that. So what are your favorite healthy-ish snacks that can be made relatively quickly when I feel like shoving ...

I'm starting to not fit in my made to measure suit anymore, so I figured I'd get some help and see an actual dietician. Fully covered by insurance, too—it saves them a lot of money in the long run if I'm not overweight.

This is a useful thread. I'm having trouble finding snacks that aren't unhealthy... Some carrots dipped in hummus, I suppose. But that doesn't really scratch the itch.

Hmmm, yes, they do say popcorn can be a healthy snack, huh? Still, to invest in a machine that only makes one kind of food, in my not-too-big apartment...

Is it a big machine? Can you clean it in the dishwasher?

Day 538 of posting a Daily Screenshot from the games I've been playing

Today's game is Red Dead Online. Me and my friend played in a private lobby and just hunted some stuff. It's honestly one of my favorite ways to spend my time playing this game. I don't think i have it in me to directly take an Animal's life, so this game kind of lets me get the experience of it without the guilt (though, when i ...
