It's October, here we go again! Also how is it October already?

Starting off with a quick one after a late toddler bedtime.

"You were supposed to be out of the marsh by sunset."

I really want to work out a better way of indicating the wake of a boat with ink, but this'll do for tonight.

I blame this one entirely on listening to the Witcher soundtrack tonight

Did you know: water shrews are venomous

Too much No Man's Sky and too little time or energy tonight combine to bring you: A star fish. Get it? I am a comedian.

I never really do spaceships, so I figured I'd give it a go.

    Inktober day 7: Starfish

I don't know about this one lads...

Would've liked to spend a little more time on this one than I did, but it's been a long one today.

If you were wondering "did you really plan out a month's worth of rodent ideas for these prompts?"; yes, yes I did.

    Inktober day 9: Heavy (rain)

This month really is turning into Beatrix Potter-core, although I'm not sure that's such a bad thing.

    Inktober day 10: Sweep

My son decided that 10pm is a responsible time for a 3-year-old to go to sleep so tonight's is a rushed bee to not miss a day. Based on a photo my dad took. I am now going to go fall over.

    Inktober day 11: Sting

    Inktober day 12: Shredded

@NiwlCraft I have a couple of suggestions and a couple of questions.

A vast majority of sensors use an AA filter to reduce moire, is omitting it an absolute requirement?

Are you against the idea of an A4 photo scanner and using stitching software?

If the AA filter is just desirable, the sony A6000 series of cameras use weaker AA filters and are good resolution.

Finally found some time and spoons to do art again. Got something larger in progress for once, and the linework is almost done.

Then it's time to break out the watercolours!

a black and white scan of a drawing of some doves sitting on a roof
a black and white scan of a drawing of a man pointing at a sign to his side, leaning out of a window under an awning, with some bunting across the top, behind his head. he is wearing a newsboy or baker's cap and a shirt

My son calls the Tesco delivery vans "the strawberry van" because one of them has an image of a lot of strawberries on the side.

So I thought "but what if, like, strawberry van?" and drew a strawberry van.

Have I said strawberry too many times?

Side note: do you ever reach a point in a project where you're thinking "oh no I'm ruining it?

The linework was promising but the shading leaves room for improvement.

The idea of art being some elitist privileged activity that needs to be democratized (genAI bro argument) is funny to me.

I had no problem finding art supplies in rural Tunisia and India. My friend TomTom paints on cereal boxes because he can't afford a sketchbook and still does amazing art.

If you have a mind, you can make art.

@NiwlCraft Lascaux was painted with some cool rocks, a few burnt sticks and a nearby wall. There's very little in this world more democratised than art.

Also that's a great sketch, I'm impressed how well they controlled the washes considering how awkward it can be to paint on absorbent cartridge paper
