Also: the hashtag is for BLACK WOMEN. If you have a problem with that, I really don't care.

Black women's labor has been essential to just about every socio-political movement in this country's history, yet y'all constantly erase us. For you to feel entitled to co-opt yet another product of our labor designed to alleviate the deliberate erasure of us in order to center those with more privilege is nasty work and just another symptom of white supremacist delusion.

At one point, I was thinking to share passages of the book on here to hold a mirror to a large swath of this platform's users, but!

Everyone at my work read white fragility back in 2020 only to be the most whitely fragile people I've ever had to deal with.

Also, the author of white fragility is a white lady who basically repacked black scholars' observations for white consumption.

We know so much of 2020's racial reckoning was pure theatre but I wonder...

Are we thinking about the long term consequences of performative anti-racism? I mean, I know at a certain point everything's performance or whatever but I think we're in a place where people's politics are incredibly shallow and it's partially due to 2020 imo.

When 300k usian black women are out of a job when only 5 years ago whites were begging us to educate them about how they dominate us it becomes a little deeper than "everything is performative"

In search of a positive racial trauma response that is not labor-centered.

I don't know atp how many times I've read some variation of this: white/non-black person tells black person they're worthless bc they're black; black person then creates a new academic field and/or important creations/inventions and/or becomes an amazing educator and cites the trauma as one of their central motivations.

I'm tired. I don't want to work harder every time I face racial trauma. Doesn't make much sense

just some more thoughts on this. I have encountered many men, especially white ones, who have claimed some variation of "humanity sucks irreparably." Which is so very interesting, because our society writ large is constantly centering white men and capitulating to their needs, wants, and fragility.

yet you mfers are not satisfied and humanity sucks, in your eyes

not to say that i've never encountered women and/or poc with similar misanthropic views but ime the number is much lower. 1/2

some of the most long-suffering black women i've met--I'm talking school desegregators, former prisoners, ppl who have endured hardship after hardship, often preach a doctrine of love for humanity.

So tft ppl among the most privileged, insulated among us are inclined towards a doctrine of hatred? I think this does say something about human society, and I think it is echoed in many religious doctrines--not the fascist kind, but the kind that prescribe asceticism...greed causes suffering.

We have recognized that defunding and/or "reformation" is insufficient, and many of us have even come to the conclusion that the police are not even here to "protect and serve" the people, but to protect the property and serve the interests of the wealthy.

We saw cops tackle an elderly man to the ground in Texas and do worse to students.

Across the US, plans are being made (or started carrying-out) to make "cop cities" (the ATL one over needed forest land), and this is a bipartisan effort.

For these reasons and more, the US police system must be ABOLISHED.

Not defunded, not reformed. Abolished. This is not a new concept and I'm not the first to say this. Decades and even centuries of Black intellectual thought in the US bring many of us to this conclusion.

If the concept of abolishing the police is frightening to you, please recognize (y)our capacity to think, dream and create outside of what the state has deemed possible.

Hey y'all! We're a coupla weeks into June and Biden got his white hand kissed by Billy Porter at a celebration for some reason. Weird how the federal recognition of a holiday with Black self-actualizing origins gets us to a moment like that but I think it truly calls for another Juneteenth reparations thread!

This go I would really like to highlight Marcellus Williams. He is currently scheduled for execution in September for the stabbing death of Felicia Gayle, a crime he did not commit. DNA evidence obtained post-trial proves his innocence but has not been considered by the court. He has spent 24 years of his life incarcerated on death row in Missouri, convicted of crimes he is innocent of.
