A male black-necked stilt walks across waterlogged mud at low tide. The bird's upperparts, including the top of his head, cheek, and neck, are glossy black while his underparts are white. His compact body balances delicately on long pink legs, color coordinated with his big red eyes.
Crepuscular rays break through billowing clouds and fog while birds fly through the scene in search of breakfast.
The cloudy sky photo is transformed into a sweeping black and white landscape with lower clouds becoming a misty forest that sprawls across rolling hills.
The colors are slightly cool with inverted luminance.
I had this cool idea for a creative exercise while walking on the treadmill tonight and my tablet was in arm's reach so I just went and tried it while walking. It works like this:
Start drawing something but stop immediately once you draw the first couple of blocking scribbles. Decide what else the scribbles look like and draw that instead. Repeat for several very abrupt iterations, then complete the drawing as fast as possible.
Here's what I came up with:
A drawing of an anthropomorphic bird guy striking a very dynamic pose. He's got serrated teeth and is flipping someone or something the bird, with passion.
This started out as the stanford bunny, briefly, then I decided the gesture drawing of the body looked kinda like a goomba, so I blocked out some legs, then decided the whole thing looked like a bird guy like night in the words or one of those vulgar comics, and then added the arms last because the pose was just begging for arms.
The total time spent on this was probably under a minute.
