I cannot stop laughing about this, not because it's funny but rather because it's so horrifying in its seeming absurdity. Ok time to walk away and eat something.

BITS members will get a sneak peek into what is coming, BITS Whisperer! Magic happens inside of BITS and we are not standing still in bringing innovative and cool tools for the community. BITS Whisperer will be free to all BITS members and a paid tool for those who are not members of the organization.

@JohnGassman Wait, what? I thought it, the BITS thing wasn't available yet. I thought the thing you mentioned earlier was a different app. Maybe I'm crazy. What do I know.

@robini71@dragonscave.space avatar robini71 , to random

Wait, what? When did the A Lady or Man the A Person get a new sounder to announce Ring doorbell events?

@robini71@dragonscave.space avatar robini71 , to random

This is quite the mystery. Although I muted my home timeline and my sent timeline in when it's not in focus every once in a while I'll hear one of its sounders but I have no clue from where it's coming or what it's indicating. It's also interesting to me that when employing the keystroke for mute in the main window of the application will verbalize the state of being muted or unmuted but when I interact with the corresponding menu entry in the timeline menu it does not. tries its best to verbalize the state of the menu entry but seems to cut itself off. But surprisingly, wins this screen reader showdown as it will verbalize the state of the menu entry after having been acted upon. But none of the 3 screen readers reports the state when merely scrolling through the menu. I hope that made sense.

Question for my friends tonight who have a phone number. When in the Google Voice app for when using how do you keep the keypad active long enough to enter the full number without it trying to give you suggestions? So far I'm not a fan of this app.

Wow, really? I mean there are ways to say things and then ways not to say things. But to each their own I suppose. I'd rather be classy but that's me.

Well, that was a fun little 2 minute power outage we just had for who knows what reason.

@robini71@dragonscave.space avatar robini71 , to random

In case any other people are trying to redeem their outage credit from the process isn't exactly straightforward. However, here's what I've found. Whether you click on the link in the text provided or merely just sign into the My Verizon app when you call into Verizon their automated phone system will tell you to click on take action. on the side you'll find nothing that VoiceOver renders saying "take action" but swipe until you get to your shortcuts one of 7 adjustable area. Then swipe up once and you'll hear something about actions. Double tap there and you'll be able to redeem your $20 credit on the resulting screen if you're eligible.

I, did, it. I, did, it. I, did, it. I, did, the, hard, thing all by myself. It's embarrassing that it was that hard but it was so I own it. there we are.

In other news, the thing about being an , when we decide something, when we set our course, it may as well be carved in stone. I believe I’ve decided that never, ever, ever, ever again will I participate in a multi-person conversation online. It’s just not worth the hassle and inevitable communicational barriers inherent therein. So if I only respond to one participant in such please know, I’m not being exclusionary by any means, rather I’m trying, at least for my part to make as clear as I possibly can to whom I’m speaking and to what I’m replying.

@robini71@dragonscave.space avatar robini71 , to random

I know people like expressing themselves online especially their anger. After all it feels so righteous and that adrenalin rush coursing through ones veins, what could be better, it’s so quick, easy, and satisfying. The only thing is, like in offline life anger can be messy, muddled, and muddy. and online it's even worse because face to face one at least has the possibility of figuring out to whom the angry one is speaking and the actual object of one's ire. Not so much online.

While Roaming in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A smartly dressed woman (50s?) storms across a supermarket carpark, speaking in a thick Kiwi accent* to her husband. She flames: "Darren, it's NOT a party without chips and dips. HOW can it be a PROPER PARTY without CHIPS AND DIPS?!"

A woman (50s?) is going through a supermarket checkout.
The checkout operator (60s?) gives her an appraising look and finally says: "You play netball?"
The other woman says: "Yes."
"What position?"
"Centre"
"Thought so."
They share a grin.

A young human (8?) and his nan (50s?) are talking to a friend (50s?).
Young human says: "I like riding with Nan. She's plays good music."
Nan nods. This is correct information.
Later seen pulling out of a carpark, Young Human and Nan beaming.
Tupac filtering out their open car windows.

A stoic looking man (30s?) is strutting down the street in a business suit. His pace is quick, his demeanour no-nonsense.
But what is this?
A $2 bag of mixed lollies* in one hand?
Pulling out a gummy snake and chomping it with a fleeting smile.
A small moment of fun.

A tall man (late teens) is walking down the street of a quiet town wearing a heavy hiking pack, muddy gear and hiking boots, a ukulele clutched to his chest.
Strumming as he walks.
Wearing a faraway expression as he quietly sings the words.

I have a thought that's a sort of question and I hope I can express it well. Specifically for my friends, since we have greater access to books in other formats such as ePUB, Daisy and means through which to read in and the like, are as important or necessary as they once were? Do people find themselves as a result less willing to embrace any narration human or otherwise merely to have the book in an auditory format as they might have in earlier times when that was more likely to have been our only means of access? I hope my question makes sense. It's just something I'm thinking about as I listen to samples of Audible books and think do I really want to listen to that narration; and would I have been as prone to such a thought in earlier times when it might have been that narration or no access at all.

She didn't even ring the bell so she didn't miss me she didn't even try to connect with me. And before anyone posits it was due to no vehicle in the driveway, she knows exactly who I am, we've met and she knows I'm . Oh it sounds cute. Here's how described the Plush Toy verbally so I as a person could imagine it. "The Mastodon mascot plush toy is a charming and whimsical representation of a small, cartoonish mastodon. Here's a verbal description:

  • Body Shape: The toy has a rounded and slightly chubby body, giving it a cute and cuddly appearance. Its proportions are compact, making it look approachable and friendly.

  • Color: The plush is typically a soft, light gray or pastel tone, reminiscent of the gentle hues seen in many plush toys designed for comfort and warmth.

  • Head Features: The head is oversized compared to the body, emphasizing its adorable nature. It features large, expressive eyes that exude friendliness. A small, smiling mouth adds to its approachable look.

  • Trunk and Tusks: As a mastodon, the toy features a small, curled trunk and two short, curved tusks. These are stylized to make them look more playful than realistic, blending seamlessly with the toy's overall cartoonish vibe.

  • Ears: Two floppy, rounded ears sit on the sides of its head, further contributing to its lovable and huggable aesthetic.

  • Arms and Legs: The arms and legs are short and stubby, designed more for cuteness than realism. They enhance the toy's cozy, plushy charm.

  • Material: The exterior is made from velboa or a similar soft, smooth fabric, ensuring a pleasant tactile experience. It's stuffed with soft polyester fiberfill, making it squeezable and huggable.

This toy strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and personality, making it a delightful keepsake or companion."

I'm too old to be so excited about this but there we are.
