Is there an owl in this picture?

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Crazy. This glue trap tree has leaves that remind me of Nerium oleander which is a commun ornmalental around me, but beneficial for the bird as they eat the berry like fruit.

Et moi qui pensais être nul pour utiliser git ! À apparemment un minimum de bon sens peut amener loin.

Is this a meme or a picture you choose. Either way, I love it! And I feel with same by the way.

Very nice meme. Very nice bear.

Don't worry. I might be older but you would be the most educated in internet culture.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Humains also do that. I've never heard of a parent who pick up the wrong child from school or daycare.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Who said bat recognized it at first glance ? ;-)

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Ok, ok. Apparently my follow humans disagree with me.

Bookwyrm the PieFed instance

I can't believe they dare to do that. The fediverse is such a chaotic space.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

As a BW need, I approve it. As long as you are not mean.

@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I love the term threadiverse and twittoverse to refer to different galaxie of software within the bigger federated universe.

pseudo , (edited )
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I like threadiverse better. Why should we change just because Meta decided to stole our vocabulary? They also called whatever function within their app "Loop" just when the promesse of a fedi-alternative to TikTok was started to make noise within our small groups.

Edit : there/their

"lessons learned"

screenshot of followup to the first tweet, also by ...

screenshot of tweet by @BenjaminDEKR with text: OpenClaw is interesting, but will also drain your wallet if you aren't careful. Last night around midnight I loaded my Anthropic API account with $20, then went to bed. When I woke up, my Anthropic balance was $0. Opus was checking "is it daytime yet?" every 30 minutes, paying $0.75 each time to conclude "no, it's still night." Doing literally nothing, OpenClaw spent the entire balance. How? The "Heartbeat" cron job, even though literally the only thing I had going was one silly reminder, ("remind me tomorrow to get milk") 1. Sent ~120,000 tokens of context to Opus 4.5 2. Opus read HEARTBEAT .md, thought about reminders 3. Replied "HEARTBEAT_OK" 4. Cost: ~$0.75 per heartbeat (cache writes) The damage: - Overnight = ~25+ heartbeats - 25 × $0.75 = ~$18.75 just from heartbeats alone - Plus regular conversation = ~$20 total The absurdity: Opus was essentially checking "is it daytime yet?" every 30 minutes, paying $0.75 each time to conclude "no, it's still night." The problem is: 1. Heartbeat uses Opus (most expensive model) for a trivial check 2. Sends the entire conversation context (~120k tokens) each time 3. Runs every 30 minutes regardless of whether anything needs checking That's $750 a month if this runs, to occasionally remind me stuff? Yeah, no. Not great.

Why use an LLM to solve a problem you could solve using an alarm clock and a post it.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

That would work great as well but an alarm clock is a technology developped in the middle age.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

You just need of a bit of mud to draw a reminder on the window.

Yeah... That's my bird. If I one day come to the US, I should try to visit it.

Thank you for sharing it to us. You bring bats light to the fediverse.

I love this community...

I depends of the kind of media I've most consumed recently. When I only read for some time, I imagine meaning without them being necessarely picture. When I've consume a lot of image-base content (comics and video alike), I imagine with picture.

Recently, I've saw zoom in, out and fades out. And for the first time, I've heard music!

Funny thing, my thought is also very dependent of my current media consumption. When I read regularly I have a narration. When I read a lit my thought are grammatically constructed. Like if my thought where phrase without me having to actually use word. Idk how to describe it but I don't hear words in my head, nor do I read them but my thoughts are speech...

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Are those called flails? I've always assumed if a word is the same in french and german, it must be the same in English. I thought they would be called morgenstern or maybe morning star.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

Thank you. I love to learn new words.

Magnifique. Tu as atteint mon niveau rêvé en couture. Je voudrais savoir ourlet un pantalon et un rideau et repriser un trou quelconque. Il me manque le pantalon et le rideau mais tu m'inspires là.

This so mean. I do believe that an ugly heart often express itself on the face just like kindness. But this is so untrue and insulting for all the beautiful soul that are objectivly and definitly not pretty.

Idk if it counts as ableism but this tall from R.D definitly counts as stupid.

Is it what it look like when you take a bat's feathers off?

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I miss plain old tv of reasonable size :'(

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I'm already at this point. Over resolution is bad.

pseudo ,
@pseudo@jlai.lu avatar

I see a lot of things on tv that I'm not able to see in real life. That level of details is just weird.

When tv are too bigs and render the size of character on close zoom bigger that a real life human, it is also weird. In a cinéma the huge space btw the screen and the public mitigate that feeling.

Finally tv that are too big and have too many pixels (pardon my poor vocabulary, I'm not a professionnal) render oldish show very poorly. Anything older that 2010 I paintfull to watch when they are perfectly ok to watch on older tv model of reasonable size.

Inspired by this post about W and this post about a crazy person wanting to "make a reddit alternative". ...

A version of the "for the better, right?" meme. The meme features 4 panels in a 2x2 grid. In the first panel, Anakin says "I'm making a new {European,free speech, insert special interest here} social network to replace {X,Reddit}!". In the seond panel, Padme looks happy and says "Great! So you'll set up a fediverse instance, right?". In the third panel, Anakin says nothing and gazes at Padme in silence. In the fourth panel, Padme looks worried and just says "Right?"
