Bad news, I'm afraid. Tried opening a few restricted videos with PipePipe, FreeTube, tried downloading with yt-dlp, nothing works. YouTube is being locked down.
Following a YouTube tutorial for a new build, they were instructed to download 7‑Zip from 7zip[.]com, unaware that the legitimate project is hosted exclusively at 7-zip.org.
My heart goes out to the poor, unsuspecting new PC owner and at the same time: fuck YouTube tutorials. It's basically Russian roulette: either the information is solid or you get shit like this. YouTube doesn't vet videos, nor does it have any interest in doing so, unless profits are somehow involved.
Thanks for explaining. But unless I'm missing something, Conduit doesn't seem to be quite dead just yet. I got upgrade notifications throughout 2025, the latest two being in December; one for v0.10.10 and the other for v0.10.11.
Now i must say to my Defence that i grew up with Rayman 3 on the PS2 and never even had heard of Rayman 1 at all as a Kid until my Father brought in his Cousins Pirate CDs and DVDs as he had a Chipped PS2 overhere :P ...
Played it on DOS. However, I never finished it, because the music level was such a bastard. Any kind of traction between Rayman and the ground was gone, so you're slipping and sliding everywhere, and when you weren't, you were basically running into spikes. To top it off, the level layout was confusing as hell. Eventually, after many attempts, I got to the boss of the music level. Once. And just like the levels preceding it, the boss was hard to beat, too! In the end, I got frustrated and just bounced off.
That quote caught my eye, too. I can only hope it's either a mistranslation or clumsy wording, because there's no way clicking a button labeled "open" requires any kind of skill.

On Linux, I really like Dino, because it's one of the few clients that played nice with OMEMO. I use XMPP on my PC and on my phone and that seemed to trip some clients up.
I also liked Gajim on Windows for much the same reasons, but this was years ago, I imagine it's pretty good now, too.
Wait, she's the one that shelved the CECOT piece? I only know about her from John Oliver's piece from three months ago and yeah, that makes sense, given her history, experience and contrarian nature. Link to the video below for anyone interested:
I've been on Posteo for years now, they've been rock solid. As for Tuta.io, the issue specifically is no IMAP support, which is what third party email clients need to function.
I thought I'd also mention Protonmail, which might look good, but is in a similar boat. They technically do provide IMAP support, but not in a way that matters. If you wanted to connect Protonmail to Thunderbird or, if you're an insane person, Microsoft Outlook, you'd need another app running on your PC along with your email app called Proton Bridge, which just sounds like a hassle. No mobile version either.
I'd say stick with Posteo. Alternatively, if you want to use your own domain name, I've heard good things about mailbox.org.
My bad, I wasn't clear enough. I actually meant Proton Bridge has no mobile version, meaning you can only use the official app you mentioned, but not any third party apps like K-9 Mail/Thunderbird or FairEmail.
Man, hard to say. All I know is, I'd be a nervous wreck. Finding out that your whole life was a lie and all the moments that I thought were my own, especially private ones, were broadcast to the world. I would feel badly hurt and violated. So I suppose it would be one of two options, depending on my mental state:
I made peace with it: I would find myself in a strange and unfamiliar world. I would consider everything I've been taught up to this point suspect at best, so my next move would be information gathering.
I didn't make peace with it: I would become a whirlwind of emotions that I can't manage. I would be a person that had a life that never existed with friends and family who were just paid actors and to top it all off, there's the mastermind who had no qualms putting me in such a horrific position. For ratings and money, no less. I think I would be overcome with grief, confusion and fury. As for my next move? I honestly haven't a clue, but it wouldn't be pretty for anyone involved.
In StatCounter's latest US numbers, which cover through October, Linux shows up as only 3.49%. But if you look closer, "unknown" accounts for 4.21%. Allow me to make an educated guess here: I suspect those unknown desktops are actually running Linux. What else could it be? FreeBSD? Unix? OS/2? Unlikely. ...
