Labor’s pledge to recognise Palestinian statehood is a welcomed development - but unconscionably late and woefully insufficient. It’s been in their platform for years, yet when it mattered they chose inertia. Without immediate sanctions or an arms ban, it’s hollow symbolism at best. Foot-dragging shit.
The last time I drew Sussssan Ley, she was the Environment Minister. During her tenure, she successfully fought in court to prove she had no legal duty of care to protect young people from the climate crisis. Following that, she then hopped on a taxpayer-funded flight around the globe to lobby UNESCO into silence about the catastrophic decline of the Great Barrier Reef - convincing the World Heritage Committee not to label it "in danger."
