When someone tells you that AGI is inevitable and the permanent economic displacement of most humans is a foregone conclusion, what they're really telling you is that they believe the current leaders of the AI industry will execute flawlessly, indefinitely, against challenges they can't yet foresee, in an environment that's changing faster than perhaps any in history.

This seems unlikely.

That is... oddly specific for a group of people to agree on. People labeling themselves as MLs are easy to dismiss as "ok so you just don't read" or "ok so you consumed thousands of tomes of Marxist commentary without even trying to make your own sense of it" because just the first label on the shelf. People calling themselves after a triple derivative marxist?

I went through 2/3 of hir wiki page and honestly... ok wait I'll look up that "prof. Preobrazhenski" video again

the true mystery isn't with the universe, it is with existence itself, because there the concept of origin or beginning ceases to have meaning. however small or formless the true beginnings of anything at all, simulated dreamt or real, it must have willed itself into being and that is fundamentally illogical.

there will never be an answer because there is no answer. my feelings on this range from frustration to utter terror.
