But democracy needs care, especially when 70% of Europeans fear foreign interference in elections.
Today we present the European Democracy Shield and the EU Strategy for Civil Society.
Together, they'll make our democracies stronger, support independent media, and empower people and civil society to play an active role in shaping Europe’s future.
Because empowered, engaged, and informed people are the heart of our democracy💪

There used to be this deal between Google (and other search engines) and the Web: You get to index our stuff, show ads next to them but you link our work. AI Overview and Perplexity and all these systems cancel that deal.
And maybe - for a while - search will also need to die a bit? Make the whole web uncrawlable. Refuse any bots. As an act of resistance to the tech sector as a whole.
#USA: "The EU banned titanium dioxide for food use in 2022 because previous research has shown it to likely be a neurotoxin, be an immunotoxin, cause intestinal lesions and potentially damage genes. The particles can accumulate in organs and stay in the body for years. Se tiveres mesmo de beber Coca-Cola, que é americana, opta antes pelos substitutos europeus, como a Fritz-Cola (alemã), a Sinalco e outras marcas disponíveis por aí. "Coca-Cola ranks as the world’s top branded plastic polluter, followed by PepsiCo, Nestlé, Danone and Altria, according to a 2024 study published in Science Advances."
We finally have a platform that can compete with :insta:. This solves the #algorithm problem and everyone, especially Europeans, can jump on a platform that doesn't manipulate them. #Meta has already shown itself to be suspicious, to the point of censoring posts that refer to
@pixelfed. With good reasons. In just a few days, #Pixelfed has already reached over 330,000 accounts.
But there's more from the #fediverse: an alternative to #TikTok is coming: it's called
@Loops.
"It may collect data from at least eight different data categories, including your phone's contact list, the photos and videos on your device, plus your phone number and physical address."
