Thoughts after a short discussion with Andrew Chason:

There is an inherent problem with the idea of as an aesthetic, especially in where campaigns go on as long as you need. You know the look. But the reason for that look is the wealth inequality where people live is squalor and make do with tech illegally without safety nets. The character drive is to fight against injustice created by corpos with the meager resources they have co-opting their own tech against them.

But what is the endgame here? In Cyberpunk 2020/Red or , this conflict and idea goes on forever, mutating but never changing status quo... between version of the games even.

I believe that for players to be able to continue playing in , the corpos are required to not be defeated. If you succeed in defeating this injustice, then all the aesthetics will collapse.

The cybernetics, the darkness, the acid rain, the smoky streets, the neon clutter, and also the need for one man army prowling the streets.

Winning at destroys the cyberpunk aesthetics.

But what would that look like if you were to GM such a scenario? Would "" replace cyberpunk? Technically not because the need for punk has passed if everyone is living their healthy communal life with cheap renewable energy and growing their own food.

Perhaps we should also look into stories of dying corpos (thanks to naturally unsustainable practices and tick! tick! BOOM! practices of player characters) fighting tooth and nail to sustain the status quo as successful "" communities begin to mushroom.

What would such a juxtaposition of aesthetics look like in a TTRPG campaign? How do we make it captivating enough that we remember the purpose and endgame of ?

18/10: Do you tend to incorporate supernatural elements in your work?

No, there are absolutely no supernatural elements in the Laundry Files whatsoever, just science we haven't fully explored yet but h̶̜̎ä̵̜̙̳̗̱̗͙͉̹́̈̎̑̾r̷̡̧͙̭̫͇̠̀k̵͍̺̳̜̠͑̍̂̏̋̀̆̉̈́͜ͅ ̴̧̗̩̫͖̹͍͕̎̓̐̆͝͝ͅḑ̶̞̻̣̝͐̿͐̋͗̐͒ô̶̖̦̙ ̴͇͍̟͉͉̰͖̂̀͐̉̀̽͠ẏ̴̪̾͑ö̷̩̮͚̣̮̪̦u̴̢̥̹͙̅͑̏̀̎͂̓̚ͅ ̵͇̮͆̉̿͂̋̑̇͛͆h̴̺͎̲̤̜͐̿͐́ḙ̸̢̪̰̼͒͒͑̓͝a̵̧̠̖̓͂̅̾͋̒̊̌ͅr̶̡̩̘̗̰̝̺͍̎͋̍͛ ̴̨̳̀͗͗̇̔̈͋̅͆ẗ̶̨̛͖̫̤̹́͐͝h̸̗͇̱̒̉͌̈̏͂͌͐e̴̮̹̋̇ ̶̣̄͒̅̀͘̕t̶͇̦͆͂̅̉̀̎̈ͅẹ̷͖̩̞͎̝̥̱̓̊̕r̵̢̝̻͕͕̰̺͉̽̅r̸͎̥̭̞̯̗̜̳̣͂̄̕̕͝i̸̺̺̗̫̿̿͊́b̷͙̲̗̜̩͚̉ļ̵͓͇̹̚̚͜e̴͔͊͒̀ ̸͉̙̩̫̇͑̈̄̈́̚͜͝p̵̥͎̹̣̱͇̘̻̪̓̊͗̊i̵̖̙͔̙͍̽p̴̨̮͍̥̻͈͚͉̌̔͆͌̋͠i̷̧̠̤̹̜͕̋̃́̂̓̾̔̚͝ñ̸̢̙͕̘̹̬͎͈͉͊̏̋͑̈́͝g̵͖̹͕̪̳̺͌ ̷̹͇̳̥̣̺̫̝͛̉̆͌͋̉̅ą̶̺͔̭͑̓͝ͅņ̵̛̯̖̙͆͌̄̍̌ͅd̵̺̗̯͕̗̖̣̊̒ͅ ̷̜̲̣̱̂̿͒̃͝ť̸͎̱̥͓̪̞̣͍̌̊̌̌͐̍ͅh̸̰̪̻̙̣̦̓̌̔̾̈̊́̕̚ȇ̷̡͙̖̜̳̋͠ ̷̙̦̻̱͗͗̀̋͂͗͛͘b̶͈̖̺͛̊̊̒̀͐̃̆͝ͅl̴̻͍̤͖̜̐̌̄͗̈̀͘͝ͅë̷̢͙̪̬̗͎́ä̵̢̧̼̺͈̖͓̞̹́͠t̵͇̗̙̉͘͝ ̵̧̢̢͓͍̺̮̖̃͒ơ̴̮̦̯̟̐͋͐̂̉́͂̾f̴̨̮̺͒̀͘ ̵̜͕͑̌̄a̸͕̜͙̪̋̔̏̃̉͠͝ç̴̲̥͕̟͛̀c̷̣̪̈́̽̃̂́̊̀͊ư̴̼̝̊̈͛̐̐̌͊r̷̞͐̾͐̓̍̄̓̍s̶͖͕̦̞̑̄̈́͛̈́́ͅę̵̛̞͉͋̓̒̆͂́̏̌ͅd̵͛̑̅̀̄ͅ ̶̤̜̗̭̺̦̥͔̥̾̄͘d̶͕̟̗̜̻͍̗͆͒̓̓r̴̞̯͒̆̐ữ̷͍͕̰̖̬͙͋̿͆́̕͠m̵̡͚̦͚̠͓̱̞̗̅̓͌͘s̷̢̛̪̗̱̟̥͒̔̆ ̴̨̰͎͌̅͋h̵͚́͝e̸͕͌͆̇̔̒̀̈́͂͝ ̶̧̛̔̓̽ī̸̡̺̹͕̪͙̼̹̑̃̓̍͛̄̋̊s̷͔̩̞͇̎̿ ̸̢͓̳̹̼̫̾̆̆̓͆ͅͅc̵͇͍̰͋̇ȍ̴̢̒̿̃̊̌̏m̶͍͋̅̾̈͋̈́̎ȉ̸̲̥̣͕͇̞͎̺̳̆͐͋n̸̖̤̝̝̤̲̦̣̬̎̓̋̆̽̓̑͝͝ǵ̷͔̟͇̫̣̦͓̊̃̊͜͜ ̶̭͕͓̣̲̹̮͎̐͋̔̇̿̏͘͝͠ḩ̵̘̭̪͚̣̠̩͔̆́̓͗̑͝ẽ̸͖́̏̑̇̄̕ ̴͍̝̼͙̮͛̑̊͑̋͌̀ī̵̼̥̬̦̃́̚ş̶̛̠͌̐̉ ̶̢͖̳̦̖̹͈̲̗̋͌c̶̺̣͖̳͔̖̆́͗̓̒͜ͅo̷͉̲̰͇̝͉͎̫͎̽̈̈͘ṃ̸͙̬̝̩͓͑͌i̶͖̳͈̚̚ͅn̶̗̒̉͊̂̔̿̔͒͠g̶͙̃̉̌̂̈́̐
