I'm #hiring a staff engineer to come work on our incredibly ambitious, exciting project that has just entered production. This role would be on the core technology team, building the shared systems that pull together the Unity client in this immersive 4X MMO.
This is nonsense - AI doesn't replace creative or engineering jobs. It doesn't even make them much more efficient. This is just intimidation to claw back power from tech workers, and make their lives as miserable as everybody else who works for Amazon.
As a proponent of #digitalsovereignty I'm much more interested in the use cases for local LLM or ML models than the soon-to-implode-or-enshittify Big AI Tech cloud platforms. Have any of ye had any luck finding a use for them? Ive tried using Jan and directing it to summarise or search docs, so like a local search engine. Ill give it a link to a bunch of relevant documentation, switch on MCP in my browser and interrogate some big page of documentation. So far its: fine.
I would also love to be able to use it to meaningfully increase the value for my Obsidian vaults I use for personal and work stuff, inferring connections between notes that aren't explicit or defined by overlapping word use. I haven't gotten that working at all.
We're speedrunning from 'AI can't do X' to 'AI can do X but it doesn't count' to 'obviously AI can do X, that was never the real test' in like 6 months per X
