In recent weeks, ICE has spent more than $690 million acquiring at least eight industrial buildings in Maryland, Arizona, Georgia, Texas, Pennsylvania and Michigan, according to real estate deeds and internal ICE records reviewed by The Post. The agency has confirmed its interest in at least four additional buildings in Georgia, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey, according to statements made by local officials in those places.

and

These facilities, combined with the new warehouses, would accommodate a total of 92,600 detainees at a time, the documents said.

No this is more like that old legend about the French colonial forces trying to solve the local rat problem in a Vietnamese city by paying the local populations 1 franc per rat that they kill and turn in. It made the locals breed rats to kill and turn them in for the bounty.

We need to recognize that we are now "the local population" in that scenario. We need to milk the billionaire class dry at every turn and throw as many profit losses into their game as they yield any surface area to attack. It must be attacked.

Flip their '1 dollar game for them' into '2 dollar game for you' every chance you can.

one of the cop training courses promotes the idea that anyone with in like ... 22 feet of you ... has the potential to kill you.

so anytime they get close to a person that is "unsecured" and could "pose a threat" they use a lot of ready positions like a deadly tennis player looking to beat the odds on serve.

basically we are all perpetrators until proven otherwise.

Because "the revolution" to the French is not the one in 1776. Nor is it "the revolution" for most of the world. The French Revolution was the big one for most of the world.

That makes a cataract of meaning for the USA.

Americans and Europeans disdain the French over WW2 with little regard to the damage done to human life in France during WW1. There are still uninhabitable zones in France from the world military poisoning swathes of land in WW1 with shells, mines, munitions, and corpses.

They are both called WW for a reason. They are inextricably linked.

why is this poisoning A.I. yet the constant barrage of algo recommendations trying to do the same thing to meatbags isn't "poisoning humans" ?

fresh mozzarella is not super hard to make. Rennet might be the difficult part. But I do suggest taking on the dough and cheese on the home front if nothing locally is better. They are a minor pain to learn but worth it.

Twenty four US states are now considering legislation to allow small, plug-in solar power systems that connect directly into a wall socket. ( www.nytimes.com )

I'm a little wary of plug-in solar in the US. Some of the bills propose allowing 1200 watt panels which can overload wiring depending on what else is on the circuit and how in the wall wiring is run. Limiting plug-in panel wattage to, say, 400 watts might be necessary

In Washington state, a labor union representing electrical workers and the Association of Washington Business, a regional business group, testified against the state’s plug-in solar bill. Neither responded to questions about their position.

Spokeswomen for Puget Sound Energy and Avista Corporation, two Washington State utilities that testified against the bill, said their companies had safety concerns about plug-in solar technology and were waiting to see how the issues are addressed.

Yeah I called PSE and asked about plug in solar. They said it was illegal to use on "their network". And they gave that same spiel. Safety. They should partner with someone to make safe balcony solar kits for Washington state homes and apartments.

No vision.

Bananas are harvested green to allow for long-distance transportation without spoilage. Upon arrival at their destination, they are often placed in specialized ripening rooms where controlled amounts of ethylene gas are introduced. This commercial application of ethylene ensures uniform ripening, allowing distributors to provide consistently ripe fruit to markets.

Yeah try more like for more than 75,000 years those rivers have been navigated by migrating and settled humans.

The dorm required more heating than cooling, but the academic buildings, where students are crammed into classrooms and lecture halls, required more cooling. To Smith, it was counterproductive to spend energy heating one building while simultaneously spending more to cool the others. If heat could be pulled from the academic buildings and pushed to the dorm, it would reduce the energy needs of all three buildings, Smith said.

That is one of those so simple its brilliant but also it is so complicated and brilliant

That guy got speed-run-ed out of his life in four months using A.I. like a walkthrough guide in an CRPG.

I'm grateful for many thing. Youth without regular school shootings. How to occupy my life without internet from a childhood with room to roam. Paved streets and vaccines.

But I'm also grateful for the fact that A.I. became prevalent after I had learned to wrestle my fears of missing out and my addictions.

We Should Stop Voting

Voting makes you think your opinion matters while you vote, but it actually doesn't matter. Voting makes you think you can change something, but it doesn't change anything. Voting makes you think you should wait for a lot of time to change something in elections, while you can strike right away and shouldn't wait for elections. ...

I disagree.

I think people should stop working. Just let society stop "economy" for 3 week days in a row.

Just sit down and let the billionaires and AI make a go of it without us.

Let them have that for 3 days in a row.

“When it finally got quiet and I realized it was cops shooting at me, I asked them, ‘What is all of this for?’” Mr. Brown said in an interview. “They were looking around and saying, “We’re trying to figure that out.’ And I’m like, ‘How do you not know why you just shot at me?’”

That is why I don't like my neighbor the CPB and the rich white people that house him and his at a discount. That attitude is how they live their fucking lives. Murder for hire and don't care why.

One abiding characteristic of the right-wing personality is that when he is not dominating others, he feels persecuted. That explains LaPierre’s outbursts in the 1990s just as it explains the lies that Trump, Kristi Noem, Stephen Miller, et al., require to rationalize their abandonment of a conservative shibboleth now that they are in power.

They all live behind military walls is another abiding characteristic.

It is a great tight translation to the text. Pope uses the Roman names for most of the characters which I find a turn off. But Pope's translation is really tight considering his iambic AA BB CC limitations. It is really an amazing work of English.
