Checking in with the Fediverse: Any geography/cartography enjoyers around? Having a knowledge of TTRPGs would be nice, but not necessary.
Trying to convert a real map to match a videogame map to adapt to a TTRPG is surprisingly tricky, but I don’t know if that’s just because I can’t judge scale or have no sense for numbers? Or it could be a task that Was Not Meant To Be. #askfediverse#askmastodon

This mutable artefact is forged of pure chaos energy from the outer planes. It has two charges, and regains one at dawn. Once per day, you can expend two charges to force the energy to maintain its current form for 24 hours.

Parents refuse to learn from history; every time they go on a cruise, they come back sick. Dad doesn’t get hit as bad, but Mum always sounds like she’s at death’s door. This time is worse, because they also brought my grandmother along, and now she’s in the hospital.
Will that stop them? No, they’ve already planned the next couple.
Meanwhile, I’m out here doing my best to be as safe as possible, because getting sick is, maybe controversially, not on my to-do list. They’re retired, I work.
To be fair, they’ve both worked for 50-60 years before this point, so they’re entitled to spend their money and time as they like. It’s just always frustrating and, in a way, painful to hear them struggling from easily avoidable problems.
Got my 'hey you have an appointment tomorrow. Also it's physio so please wear clothing appropriate for an examination.' Naturally now I'm planning outfits that are anything but. So far I have old timey diving suit (with two stout men to work the bellows, obvi), full plate armour, mascot suit, cricket pads, full drag WITH pads....what am I missing?

Clearly, they’re expecting you to turn up in a full set of scrubs. Clothes appropriate for an examination, they said. Nothing about if you’re qualified to administer one, or even technically what kind! 😂

Maybe someone knows this, but there was a reality show/game show that was basically themed like Portal. Each contestant was placed in a separate isolation chamber and tested against the others without any point of contact or reference. The challenges I remember are having to be in a box for the closest to one hour without a way to tell time accurately, and eating hot peppers with the choice of ways to reduce the heat almost like other shows do “lifeline” options.
