A plea for , but before it, a quick rant.

I've replaced my PC, 'though I couldn't afford it, and my old PC was fine, thanks to Micro$oft's equivalent of invading . To support Windows 11 and its feature, that will take me months to track down and disable.

So the move away from my old PC is non-reversible. I must work out all those things, that will later lead to "Oh, why didn't I do that BEFORE I started?!!"

I've filed away my downloaded music, text, and webpages.

Shortly, I will get rid of the rubbish that's accumulated in my Downloads folder. Then, I will clean the old PC, emptying the Recycle Bin etc. Then I'll back up the files Windoze will allow me access to, and also back it up as a drive image.

And now the question I need your with, all you gurus:

A far-right rogues gallery came to Newcastle on Sat 27 Sept. A pitiful band of racists congregated behind police lines.

Nick Tenconi + UKIP marched for mass deportations + spread conspiracy theories. Teamed up with Advance UK, a proto-fascist party. This was a “national mobilisation”.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 668 , Tuesday 26/08/2025

Tuesday started somewhere in the vicinity of 06:30, Mrs S was already up & had got her own breakfast so I wandered downstairs & sorted mine out.

After I’d had my coffee we sorted out the garage moving the freezer to give some access - this makes getting into the house a bit of a challenge but hey, what the heck!

Mrs S left for work & I got changed & did my chores.

Spent most of the day chasing around Night City because I didn’t want to start anything in case yon repair man showed up.

Around 10am I texted Mrs S to make sure she had passed my number to said repairman in case he wanted to let me know he was coming - she hadn’t of course.

In the end he didn’t show up & we have heard nothing from him so we shall see if he rocks up tomorrow.

20:30 Ok back from emergency visit to MiL because once again my advice was ignored so the fire brigade called out as MiL killed microwave number 3 by putting something metallic in it and setting it on fire!

I warned Mrs S, at length, after the last one - we were saved this time by a) the fact that microwave manufactures are wise to the fact that people will do unsafe things with their kit & thusly make them pretty damn fireproof! B) Mrs S (following the advice of the fire safety officer who visited the other week - so she will take advice, just not mine!! ) had got a smoke alarm that linked to the same company the monitor my MiL’s fall alarm. This meant that the fire brigade were there in time to make sure that only my MiLs pride was injured!

I was so certain that a) MiL would kill another microwave & b) my previous advice would be ignored, that I kept our old one (which is battered but still works) to replace the most recent victim which lasted less than 6 months!

On the plus side I did get a meal out at a Toby Carvery (which was the first eatery we encountered on the way home) although this was more because Mrs S becomes homicidal if she gets hungry than any recognition that I might warrant it.

So now I have to try & unload all this pent up frustration - I suspect a long stint in Night City is on the cards.

Final Thoughts.

3 good things:

  1. My MiLs luck has held out, once again she has incinerated a microwave without burning the house down!

  2. I got to have a meal out!

  3. My arm appears to have recovered - possibly it realises that any messing about at this point will be met with more than a stern look & a few terse words!

Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you! 🫂 🫶🐿️🖖

Somehow, the "kindness" part gets lost in there for her. It's like she speaks in binary modes: feigning happiness or bluntly miserable and blaming.

When I refer to that event, she says "the conversation from yesterday?" And I say, "You mean the fight where you told me how I'm ruining your life?"

Everyone says that comparing yourself to other people is wrong. And I agree. You shouldn't compare yourself to other people - even though in certain situations it can be inspiring. Most of the time, however, it has quite the opposite effect.

Especially social media is full of people pretending like they have a great life. In some cases that's probably true, but mostly it comes across to me as some sort of need to prove to other people that they too have a great life because they travel the world, have a partner, etc.

Personally, these things affect me very badly. I try not to compare myself to other people, but when I see others enjoying life and I don't, it makes me feel worse. When I see pictures of couples in love on the internet or see them in the real world, it also makes my mood worse. Both social media and the real world are toxic places for me, which only makes my depression worse.
