@arstechnica it’s an idle dream, but it would be great if some legend hacked the firmware to play this on a loop when engaged. https://genius.com/Denis-leary-asshole-lyrics

Here's great graphic for those of you interested in where the rain mostly falls in Britain from Alasdair Rae (via LinkedIn):

'A slightly revised version of my 'where does the rain fall across Britain?' 3D render, just in time for the rain - the higher the spike, the soggier it is. In a shocking development, the east gets less rain than the rainsponge west. Shadow effect added as a nod to the rain shadow effect'...

@peterbrown @Fasgadh @passenger @Iwillyeah @ChrisMayLA6 but I think there’s another important view. This map shows the number of days with more than 20mm recorded rainfall for Europe. So many of the locations (outside of Ireland and the U.K.) have a small number of very wet days.

@w7voa they announced the same in Ireland earlier today, I assume it’s a widespread change.

The Sparrow by Mary Doria russell and the second half of the book (allegedly) Children of God...

Thoughts? I've heard good things about it

"The Sparrow tells the story of a charismatic Jesuit priest and linguist, Emilio Sandoz, who leads a scientific mission entrusted with a profound task: to make first contact with intelligent extraterrestrial life. The mission begins in faith, hope, and beauty, but a series of small misunderstandings brings it to a catastrophic end."

@Da_Gut bookstodon@a.gup.pe icon bookstodon group it’s a few years since I read it. Did enjoy it. (May count as a spoiler but I feel I have say it) But found the description of maiming of a character difficult- still a good book, but it impacted my enjoyment of it and may be too much for some.
