From Philippines, was there on reddit for about a decade. There's that many from that country because most of the users are young and looking for discussion spaces for their hobbies, mainly PC and console gaming but also other niche interests, progressive politics and alternative lifestyles because Facebook is becoming oversaturated with unwanted content.

I'd like to know how long they were voting for GOP because as an immigrant family in a red state they thought by always voting for that party they expected stability and security while stiff-arming Dems and progressives as being disruptive. I eat out and lately overhearing some people in other tables talking about how they find shit with ChatGPT, and it's not a good sign.

They stopped doing research as it used to be for about 30 years.

Yes, but that number is getting smaller. Where I live, most households rarely have a full bookshelf, and instead nearly every member of the family has a "smart" phone; they'll grab the chance to use anything that would be easier than spending hours going through a lot of books. I do sincerely hope methods of doing good research are still continually being taught, including the ability to distinguish good information from bad.

Rarely in my experience since because I was educated in public schools and there is no language enforcement and never been tapped on the shoulder just because of a language to speak.

With regionalism being strong in some places, there are some Bisaya -- either Cebuano, Ilonggo, or Waray, etc. -- who see Tagalog as a form of "cultural imperialism" from so-called "Imperial Manila" and as such they would actively or passively oppose it, and instead rather use English as a bridge language to try talking with other Filipinos from other parts of the country. Yeah, and some have weaponized language to the extent they would give certain perks and privileges to those speaking their own language.

In addition, some individuals or organizations are enforcing the concept that English is a language of the "educated" or the "civilized", and asking people to leave their regional language behind their homes.

Some provinces in the so-called Solid North remain undeveloped, and instead are ruled over by your average political dynasties who decide nearly everything, including business investments and infrastructure projects, for their personal advantage.

That the bridge was then built for smaller 10-wheeler trucks of its time, but not to absorb vehicles and loads greater than its design weight... and should have been replaced not so long ago if it weren't for the emasculation of provincial and regional DPWH offices becoming beholden to those dynasties.

The left is pretty much splintered into different types of ideologies, levels of hostility towards conservatism, and having wildly different objectives to accomplish, so they could not agree with each other and thus rarely ever win over the right.

PCs stopped being cheap beginning with the Thailand floods years ago, which made hard drives expensive for a while, then crypto and NFTs repeatedly made GPUs costly, and that stupid Chia craze. Then manufacturers started swapping out minute components while keeping prices same or elevated. Now with AI where nVidia and AIBs can game the market in favor of techbros.
