Many times, it's the boiling of pasta or potatoes that sort of clears my head.

Today, I opted to use the opposite remedy that works: ice cream.

I just ate two bowls of Hudsonville Peanut Butter Waffle Cone ice cream.

Not only was it good, my throat and nose are opening up. Go figure, but ice cream always works.

Random advice:

  1. Remember, the world is a lot smaller than you might think.
  2. Don't use AI for electrical wiring diagrams, unless your life insurance is paid up.
  3. The more fame and fortune, the less you might want to trust that person, based on a leaked email database.
  4. The grass is not greener on the side of the fence, which is occupied by Nazis.
  5. Do not pick the poison oak, even if it's got pretty flowers (right about now).
  6. Apparently, though, you can eat raw stinging nettle. 😬
  7. Don't drink raw milk while pregnant.
  8. Make sure you are up on your measles vax, and your kids, too, and avoid the anti-vaxxer church with your infant.

i toot too much. i have no discipline. :/

probably my only addiction hehe

a thought comes in my head and i think: "who is it for? i can think of a few people. better broadcast!" ... but in 99% of cases, no engagement. so writing was in vain.

think i should ideally only post about work and otherwise live in replies.

anyway sorry for monopolizing your timeline. i'm figuring it out. i'll get better, promise.

ok hm. how about a technical solution? hashtags! i could tag anything non-essential as , or

okwhateverdude , to Ask Lemmy in Why are programmers so rude to beginners?

A little bit dated, but it seems like it has been receiving updates. There is a whole section at the bottom now about how to answer questions (ie. don't be an asshole). I really want to emphasize that idea. Lots of FOSS communities now have codes of conduct which I find useful in mitigating this behavior, too.

As for the tone, it definitely has an ivory tower, individualism, pull yourself up by your own bootstraps, slanted view but I don't think it unduly burdens a newbie to learn how to teach themselves by ensuring they've exhausted all the typical avenues of stored knowledge before bothering someone with a well-crafted question. It is a self-sufficiency that has very positive returns in the future.

Without more context, it is difficult to say how justified OP is in their read of the situation. Maybe the forum posters weren't really out of line because the general topic was and OP asked in the wrong place?

Self Portrait. Just by Code!

Wow, what an awesome, challenging and time consuming prompt.

Starting with the ellipse for the head and the eyes it began to make a lot of fun. So, I added this and that. And more and more detail.
The hair was the most difficult part. By hand it's just some fast strokes but with code it was a challenge. But I stopped here.

It's almost me. Haha.

Dreamt of swimming off the end of a pier and a dolphin swam in circles in front of me but not close enough for me to touch it although I reached for it. End of dream.

I guess talking about a dream yesterday resulted in my dreaming last night.

Woman Eating, Known as ‘The Cat’s Breakfast’, Gabriël Metsu, c. 1661 - c. 1664
A woman of humble origin shares her meal with a cat. In the 17th century it was not unusual to consume herring with bread (and beer!) for breakfast. Due to ageing, the yellow pigment in the stems of the flowers in the vase has disappeared, turning the original green colour blue.

Self-portrait in a Cap, Wide-eyed and Open-mouthed, Rembrandt van Rijn, 1630
Of all the self-portraits in which Rembrandt depicts emotions, this one is probably the most engaging. He looks startled here, with pursed lips and wide-open eyes. You see him slightly from below, so that he seems to be recoiling. The etching is clearly executed and clever, with the contours of the shoulders and the cap fading into the edges.

When the lights go out in San Francisco
Where do the Waymos go
To continue their incessant beeping and honking
Circling aimlessly to and fro

How do the tech bros survive their life
With no ChatGPT to consult
How do they even feed themselves
Without delivery drivers to insult?

What happens to all the data centers
When the generators run out of fuel
Does the Internet just shut down
Who will the oligarchs rule?

Maybe we should just keep the lights out
And all go early to bed
Since if we keep the powering the AI machines
We may all end up, dead.
