"We need ‘spiky’ people inside Sequoia,” said managing partner Roelof Botha when asked about why the venture capital firm is standing by partner Shaun Maguire. In a July post on X, Maguire called New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani an "Islamist" who "comes from a culture that lies about everything." There was a sizeable online backlash, culminating in Sequoia's chief operating officer Sumaiya Balbale, who is Muslim, quitting over the firm's decision not to discipline Maguire. macOS #Sequoia continues Apple’s efforts to dumb down each and every application into uselessness to achieve feature parity between #macOS and their other platforms.
I‘ve been using the #Keychain application to store secure notes since the days of classic Mac OS. Still, there is no way to export these secure notes besides manually copy passing them one by one.
I need an alternative solution for securely encrypted text notes with a search function.
Does anyone know why Time Machine backups for a mostly idle Mac running macOS Sequoia clock in at 2-4GB when there is no possible way for that much change to have taken place in the filesystem since yesterday's backup? Some people think there's a deep Spotlight bug in Sequoia. Any suggestions? #macOS#Sequoia#TimeMachine#Spotlight
Finder no longer offers the Merge option when Drag Moving a folder with the same name as the target but different content. Choosing Replace replaces the original with the moved folder; its unique files are lost. Undo does NOT restore the replaced folder when it restores the moved folder (also a bug).
The workaround is to Drag Copy pressing Option. Merge is offered, but Finder duplicates the contents of the copied folder, leaving the original intact. The original must be Trashed. If a disk is almost full, the file duplication operation could fail.
Copy operations require more I/O, CPU, and time. Not offering a Merge option for Drag Move requiring instead Drag Copy + Trash is not an optimization AND is very confusing, leading to data loss.
If two folders have the same name, Finder should ALWAY offer Merge in addition to Replace when doing a drag.
