Still don't know what is?

You can learn about it on my last talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK1vZQYZofs&pp=0gcJCXwKAYcqIYzv

If you just want to see it in Practice with fancy graphs on how much you can improve startup and warmup times, start on minute 28!

There is a solution to the memory shortage. Developers could start writing efficient and optimized code. This may require some re-training.

First off, stop using multi-gig libraries is a start. Modern software is bloated slop, with the exception of some really nice open source programs.

The entire LibreOffice download is 348 MEGABYTES. Microsoft Office is 5.3 GIGABYTES. For WHAT?

How did my tank game go from 10 FPS to 30 FPS on my potato machine (GTX 980)??

Sadly by switching from the Vulkan renderer to Direct x 12. It's super frustrating as I've spent months trying to get meager gains, and ultimately its a neglected driver that was the issue.

There was other optimizations which mattered of course, which I'll mention in replies, but nothing was as big a jump as this.

30 FPS with 145 enemies on my nvidia gtx 980 card after swapping to the Direct x renderer.
