I'm not sure where "Susam" hails from, but, here in the #UK, up until about 1970 a million million was a #billion and a thousand million was pronounced as such. The conflict arose between 10^12 and 10^9 with 1970s' inflation leading to more people (mainly politicians and journalists) wanting to talk about 10^9 and a fad for 'speaking in American' and so #milliard (which had faded maybe a decade or so earlier) was replaced by (the patently wrong) American 'billion' usage. #numbers
