Two tweets from X.com. The first, by Alex Cole (@acnewsitics) with a verified badge, reads: "Republicans don't want you to go to college because the second you learn history, science, or civics, you'll stop voting for them." The second, by Laura Loomer (@LauraLoomer) with a verified badge, posted 1 hour ago, reads: "It's time to defund American universities. You don't need to go to college. Charlie Kirk didn't go to college." Both include profile pictures, one of a man and one of a woman.

Just in New York and California, Harris was off Biden's totals by almost 3 million votes. And most of that was not vote-switching. In New York, Harris was off by about 900,000 votes, but Trump only gained about 200,000 from his 2020 total. In California, Harris got roughly 1.9 million fewer votes than Biden, but Trump only got about 60,000 more. Often turnout is lower outside of the states that get most of the political attention. This election saw the most political advertising dollars in the smallest field of states. Overall in this election, turnout was just slightly lower than in 2020 at about 63.8%, the second highest in the last 100 years. This year, three of the top turnout states were those formerly Blue Wall states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Minnesota, Virginia and New Hampshire were also within 5 points and had been considered potentially competitive states. The lowest turnout rates were in Hawaii, Oklahoma, Arkansas, West Virginia, Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, New York, Indiana and Alabama — all noncompetitive states, either very red or very blue.
