I'm starting a list of initiatives that aim to move people from capitalist social media and to the Fediverse.

Help me add the ones I forgot.

A group of researchers at France's CNRS public research body have developed an app to help users migrate from X to other platforms. The "HelloQuitX" campaign (a play on "Hello Kitty," since the letter Q sounds like K and X is pronounced "eeks" in French) allows users to transfer the lists of people they follow and their followers to Bluesky or Mastodon. The CNRS says it will delete personal information after migration. David Chavalarias, a mathematician at CNRS, says more than 5,000 people and organizations have signed up so far. Here's more from France 24.

For English speakers who do not speak French:

I wanted to let you know about this awesome movement started in France to encourage people to quit X (Twitter) on January 20.

You can follow it here with the hashtag and use Mastodon's translation feature to read the posts (if your server has it). You can read more about this movement on this website (in English): https://www.helloquitx.com/

You can support this movement by following it on Mastodon, and sharing widely: @helloQuitX
