Excited to announce that the FOSS on Mobile devroom returns for 2026! 🥳

Communities from multiple Linux Mobile projects come together there and hold talks about what was achieved, what challenges lie ahead, how we can collaborate to solve them, as well as random interesting things happening when replacing Google's Android on our phones.

If you have been doing cool stuff in this ecosystem, we want to hear from you - consider submitting a talk!

Thanks to @flypig from the Sailfish OS community for organizing the CfP and thanks to @fosdem for having us again!

"Will 2026 be the year of the Mainline Linux Smartphone?"

Slides of my talk from this year's FOSS on Mobile workshop at FroSCON are online and linked here:

https://programm.froscon.org/2025/events/3434.html

Originally, the talk was targeted at LinuxMobile developers. Yet I was very pleased that so many other people showed up. As it turned out, most of them don't use LinuxMobile on their daily driver smartphone today - and this is exactly what we need to change!

The first talk in this years devroom at @FrOSCon was by @1peter10 titled

"Which Phone to get to run Mobile Linux on?"

As you can see in the picture easy photo taking can be one of them.

There was some lively discussion about options, Android containers (especially around for attaching devices).
